What did you wear under your wedding dress

Kristen, on February 22, 2016 at 5:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11

This is probably a silly question but I'm going dress shopping for the first time and I'm wondering what to wear when I go. Im going to need a corset to flatten my tummy and lift the girls as im planning on getting a strapless dress.

Should I wear a full corset when I go try on gowns or should I just wear a regular strapless bra to see if the dress will provide the support?

What did you wear or plan to wear under your dress? Links would be great.

Also, did anyone wear leggings or just panties because I think there will be other ladies in a huge communal dressing room and I'm shy.

Wear a strapless bra. Some had corsets at the bridal studios. I wouldn't worry too much about it as most sample dresses wouldn't fit you perfectly anywhere.

For reference- I wore a strapless bra for all appointments and granny panties, on my actual wedding day I wore nothing under.

Strapless bra since you're still shopping. Once you find the dress you can ask the seamstress whether you'll need anything else.

If wearing leggings to the appointment is more comfortable for you then go for it.

One salon actually requested that we wear leggings to the appointment. For the others I had my own change room so I wore a long line bra with a low back and nude panties.

I wore a nude strapless bra and panties in a nude color. On the day of not sure about the panties but I'm having cups sewn into my dress so I'm not worried about anything there

To shop I wore full coverage underwear and a nude strapless bra.

My actual dress has a built in corset and cups sewn in, so I'll wear some wedding night underwear and call it a day.

Okay so - i had fully planned on a steel boned, underbust corset. i bought one and everything.

However, I tried on my dress today and I've nixed it. It honestly looks better without it, and I am NOT a skinny girl. It creates a 'boob shelf' when you sit down that is ridiculously uncomfortable, and a lot of bulk under the dress. Just something to be aware of with true corsets.

I'm going to either go with spanx, or a rago waist cincher - they're lighter weight and only handle the tummy area. A good seamstress will be able to tailor your dress so that you will need less shapewear than you think. The top of my dress is boned, and we're sewing in cups so I can go braless the day of.

Just wear a strapless bra and "full-butt" underwear when trying on dresses. You can worry about specialized undergarments when you actually find "the dress" and figure out what will work under it.

I wore nude bra and panties. DB provided a corset but I don't plan on using one.

I'm probably just going to wear a regular bra and tuck the straps in for strapless dresees. The ainreason is that I don't own a strapless bra and can't justify buying one just to try dresses on. I actually thought about it for a bit, but decided that my money would be better spent on undergarments I would actually need on the day.

I wouldn't worry about getting the underwear yet. Typically, the salon will have a strapless bra you can use to try things on. Once you have the dress, you'll be in a much better position to know what underwear you'll need. For example, if the dress has a low back, you'll need a bra that does, too. Or you might end up having cups sewn into the dress instead of having a bra at all.

If you're shy, you can wear full coverage underwear. Or Spanx. Or I've even heard of women wearing shorts.
