What did your open bar cost? 100 guests

Sabrina, on November 8, 2017 at 1:44 AM Posted in Planning 2 50

We have 100 guests, I'm curious as to what people usually pay for a full open bar. I have no idea what kind of figure we should be looking at.

I really think this depends on the area.

We did a modified open bar and we had to provide the alcohol. We did 2 beers, a red wine, a white wine, a sparkling wine, a tequila based cocktail, a whiskey based cocktail, a rum based cocktail, a whiskey based "signature shot" and a tequila based "signature shot".

We had 65 guests and I believe only 4 weren't drinking. We had our our bar open for five hour. We didn't run out of anything and actually had some leftover (yes, I have drank my weight in our leftover Cava since the wedding!) We spent about $650 on alcohol only.

Are you going with a inclusive venue? To have open bar it would be an additional$12 per person or we have the option of providing Beer and Wine and for $125 they will provide a bartender. I think we are going that route, DIY we were going to buy a keg or two and then like 15 bottles of wine. Something like that lol

Our venue includes open bar with the food package. It is 68 per person for standard 4 hour open bar. Includes cocktail hour and 3 hours after dinner. There will be wine on the table during dinner. We have the option to extend it to 5 hours which is an extra 6 bucks per person and we can upgrade to some craft beers and better liquor for certain prices. Still deciding on that! We are trying to keep out guest list around 115.

Our open Bar was included in our per person price for our venue. We didn't pay a separate fee for the reception space it was one set price per guest for the 5 hour event - 3 course meal and 5 hours of open bar.

Places we looked at in NJ/PA where the open bar cost was separate from the food/reception cost was about 20$-30 per person depending on if it was

    Top shelf or not

Our open bar is going to be premium/top shelf liquor ... a few domestic beers and a few imports ... premium wine (Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Merlot, Cab, White Zin) and comes in at $54/pp for 5 hours. We're only hosting about 30-34 people including us ... and we're in Metro Detroit ...

Washington D.C. proper. We have a BYOB venue - we can bring in our own alcohol, and rent our cater's liquor license as long as we hire their bartenders. The liquor license rental for beer, wine, and liquor is $400. We are using ABC Liquors to purchase and (free) deliver the day-of. For the wine, I am buying five cases for $750 from Virgin Wines. For the beer and liquor, we are spending $1200 as we don't want to run out (ABC Liquors accepts unopened bottles), but we think the price for the liquor and beer after unopened bottles return will be less than $1000. In total, with mixers to make two signature drinks and other mix drinks and non-alcoholic drinks (i.e. soda, juice), minus the bartenders but including the liquor license rental, we are estimating to spend $2200 at the most (after unopen bottle return) for 150 guests (assuming all will be drinking) for premium open bar for Cocktail and Reception, 4.5 hours. In our area, it is usually $35-50/person for premium open bar, but with BYOB, we will be spending only $14.50/person for premium open bar.
