What do we need?

Brittany, on July 31, 2019 at 1:26 PM Posted in Registry 0 9
I already live with my fiance who has had a house for 7 years now. I am not sure what to register for since we have most things needed for a house. I don't like the idea of asking people to pay towards the honeymoon or asking for cash. Any ideas?

What if you ask for things that need upgrades?e.g. if your blender is a bit old maybe you can ask for a new one, etc.

I’ve been making a list of things that we really need to replace as I notice them. Bed sheets and towels are always good to ask for because they don’t last forever! I’m planning on donating anything we replace so I don’t have an over abundance of stuff in my cabinets!

I like the idea of donating what you get new of! This way everyone wins. Towels and sheets aren't expensive and make a good gift for people a little tight on cash.

If you have a small registry or none at all, people will more than likely give cash as a wedding present!

We had lived together for 3.5 years and owned a home for 1 year when we got married (a week ago!). We registered for upgrades (really nice pot set, nice sheets, nice towels), smart home accessories, camping items, etc.

We registered for upgrades on knives, pots & pans, linens, etc. We've been living together for 5+ years and most of our original bargain bin items are starting to show their age.

Along with everyone else, we also opted for lots of upgrades or things we've been putting off buying. New dishes, a really nice knife set, and a huge pots and pans upgrade are on our registry. If you're doing things like this, I can't recommend Amazon's registry enough. They let you set a dollar amount where every item over that amount can be contributed toward instead of one person/family having to buy it outright. Sure, people can coordinate among themselves to chip in on a gift, but this is way easier. The knife set we want is $400, which we'd feel a little bad registering for, but since people can contribute toward it, we've already had 2 or 3 people chip in for it. If the cost isn't covered, we can either pay the remainder, or get the money in Amazon gift cards.
