What do you call your Mother in Law?

I’m having this unexpected inability to call my mother in law “Mom”. Like it literally refuses to roll off my tongue. Lol! My MIL is so sweet and we talk on the phone and email all the time during COVID since we can’t see each other. She keeps insisting that I call her Mom, but I already have a Mom...
I’m having this unexpected inability to call my mother in law “Mom”. Like it literally refuses to roll off my tongue. Lol! My MIL is so sweet and we talk on the phone and email all the time during COVID since we can’t see each other. She keeps insisting that I call her Mom, but I already have a Mom so it’s weird to look at someone else and call them Mom. Am I the only weirdo that can’t get it together? What do you all call your MIL?

If it helps, I met my stepmom when I was 12 and referred to her by her first name, and now usually just refer to her as mom. And it evolved over the last 14 years. It started out as her name, then mama Rita because it reminded me of margarita. Then mama, and eventually just mom

My FMIL expects me to call her by her first name (it's actually a nickname since she hates her first name). My parents both call their mother in laws by first name as well. My mother's family is from the US, my dad's is in New Zealand, and my FMIL is from Puerto Rico. Seems fairly universally acceptable to me but I do know others who call their inlaws mom and dad.

I agree. I have a mom and only one mom and will call my only mom “mom”. My MIL is my MIL and will only be my MIL. I love her dearly but no amount of convincing will have me call her anything else other than Ms. So and so or “MIL”. I think it’s weird. At the end of the day I’m marrying her son so no amount of closeness of our relationship will make me forget that his mother is not my mother.

I call my FMIL by her name and my FH does the same with my parents. I would feel so weird if she asked me to call her "mom"
