What do you do with your purse?

Gen, on April 2, 2019 at 1:47 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 15
I’d like to have a purse with me on my wedding day just to hold things like my phone, my hotel room key, tissues and possibly lady products if necessary (☹️) and I’ll likely just leave it on our sweetheart table during the reception, but I’m wondering where to put it during the ceremony, and during cocktail hour when we’ll be taking photos? Our ceremony and reception are in the same location so I’m not sure where to keep it so it’s easily accessible but not actually in my hands during the ceremony and photo time! Any suggestions?

Does your venue have a bride room? Ours has a bride and groom room where we’re keeping everything. They have lock codes on the doors.

Do you have a bridal suite? I plan on leaving my things in there for the ceremony/pictures then grabbing things if need be before the reception.

I would ask your venue, I bet they have somewhere to store it!

Maybe you can trust your mom or a family member to hold it during the ceremony?

I was wondering the same thing. I know my venue has a bridal suite, and I could probably stash my stuff there. But I'm not sure if it locks, and that is a concern. I may just ask my FMIL or one of my aunties to hold onto it until I arrive at the reception.

We do have a bridal suite but it’s on the third floor and there’s no elevator so going back up to get it, in my dress, during the wedding, would not be fun lol. I guess I could send FH but... it seems like an annoying thing to worry about 😕

Daughter had a plastic bin with a lid that started out in the Bride's room (it had the "emergency kit" and a few other things in it). After she was in her dress and they were ready to start first-look and wedding party pictures, she and all the BM's put their personal stuff in the bin (e.g., purses, shawls & flipflops for later in the evening, etc.). Once they moved out of the Bride's room for pictures, the venue staff moved the bin: first, to the room where the entire bridal party would be waiting before the ceremony began (as guests were starting to arrive), and then, once the ceremony started they moved the bin to the reception space and put it under the table where most of the BMs and their SO's would be sitting (the tables had floor length table cloths, so the bin wasn't visible). Throughout the afternoon and evening, if the bride or any of the girls needed anything, the BMs knew exactly where all their stuff was. At the end of the night, we just made sure they all took their stuff from the bin. It worked out great!

Do you have a DOC? I did and she held it for me during the ceremony and then gave it to me when I arrived for cocktail hour. I wanted it at that time. It was very a small clutch and easy to carry while I mingled with guests. During the reception it just sat on the sweetheart table. Here's a pic during cocktail hour.

Mine stayed in the brides room at the church and I actually forgot it in the car for the reception, so no selfies for me, lol. But I didn’t even miss it. I didn’t realize I forgot it until I went to take a picture of my husband dancing with his mom.
As far as feminine products. I purposefully put a basket in the women’s restroom Incase I needed them. It was expected the day after, but didn’t come until a week later

My FH was a groomsman last fall. I gave him my flats for the reception and anything large I needed him to hold. He stashed it with the BP stuff (and then the venue had to break down the door because it got stuck... long story), so he could access it for me without it being a problem at the reception.I'm planning on putting my MOH in charge of most of these things, and she'll likely stash them in each venue's bridal rooms.
