What do you think?? Baby's Breath Bouquets - Save $$ on Flowers

Yardiegirl, on February 16, 2012 at 1:25 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 23

I saw this online as an idea that can be cute and will cut costs but I'm just not sure about it.

Baby's Breath Bouquets

They say it's simple and modern. Even putting it in your hair can be a nice touch.

Now we're all used to baby's breath being filler flowers for the real bouquet or fringe, etc.

Has anyone ever thought of using it as the entire bouquet in there hair or on the cake?

It could be a very elegant inexpensive way to do your flowers...not sold on it yet though Smiley smile

What do you think??

I like them. They're pretty and simple. I think they would go best in a winter or spring wedding, summer & fall they would seem a little out of place.

They even have it on the cake and centerpieces

Very pretty. Especially for an early spring wedding.

I'm sitting here looking at the babys breath in my v-day flowers (filler for a couple dozen tulips) and I honestly think it would be too "twiggy" looking for a full bouquet. I like it tucked in hair, personally. And I don't mind it as major filler in a small bouquet. But I'm more a fan of daisies or something else simple & inexpensive for a bouquet.

I am not a huge fan of babys breath...so I don't like the bouquets, centerpieces, or cake. I just don't think it's pretty in big chunks...I do love that hair though!

I agree with Katie Bug. Not a fan of the cake, bouquets, or centerpieces but the hair is cute!

I think those bouquets and the way it cascades down on the cake is beautiful. I am not a fan of them either, but it depends on how they are done (just like we saw in your pictures). They can be beautiful and elegant just like you have shown in the pictures. Think of it this way-what is most important to you. To some the flowers are the thing to others it is not. So if flowers are not your personal thing, i.e. more important than other features, save the cost if you like them

I should preface this with the fact that I've never really been a fan of baby's breath, but, IMHO I think they look like weeds. I wouldn't want them in bouquet, let alone everywhere else (even though it is a big fad right now). I also think that from the top they may look cute in the brides hair, but from front on pictures, I don't think they will look good. I think they will look more like weeds that blew in and got stuck there. And as for saving cost, if you are DIY any way, daisies are cheaper any way.

I love them. Especially how large they look. Go for it!!! Real flowers at a low price, win-win!

I like colour too much for a whole bouquet of baby's breath. It just doesn't look like it has any substance...

I do like it in the hair, I think even a wreath made of baby's breath would be very pretty and romantic for a garden wedding.

I've seen it done numerous times and very tactfully I might add. I think it's quite beautiful, especially if you're doing a vintage themed wedding or a wedding in the winter... and the baby's breath is all you are using for flowers...nothing else.

I like it. I think if you pick one flower and do large quantities of it, no matter the flower it always looks good. I like the delicate look that all baby's breath has to it.

We have rectangular tables, so we are doing one full floral arrangement in the middle with two smaller vases on either side filled with baby's breath and pinwheels. I saw a photo on a blog and fell in love!

I love all of the inspiration pics, but than again I love all things that have a vintage look(including the DH). No, it wouldn't work in a fall wedding. I do think they have an odor though. Did anyone else notice that?

We have the same pinterests! My decorator is using them in huge bunches behind the main purple flowers in the reception. I think they're an awesome option if you want to cut down cost.

I never thought about the smell though.

Carole, I was jsut going to mention that! I like the look of them in the photos shown as centerpieces, but baby's breath does have a pretty pungent odor and it's not too pleasant - hence the name "baby's breath". That might be something to consider.

I received a bouquet of flowers from my FH a few months ago and the filler in there was not typical baby's breath, but a really pretty PURPLE version of baby's breath. I would look into other options that might be just as inexpensive!

I'm speechless. I loveee it. Never thought of doing this before. I hate when baby's breath is in with bouquets. I personally think its ugly BUT THIS IS AMAZING when its all by itself. I THINK anyways Smiley smile

I love this idea and I am actually using it for my summer wedding. I think it is a matter of preference and if you love it, go for it.
