What do you think is reasonable to spend on a honeymoon?

meesh1204, on January 15, 2014 at 7:09 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 31

My fiance and I have been researching prices for our honeymoon and I was just curious- what do you consider reasonable? I know everyone's budget is different but just curious as to how much you plan on spending on your honeymoon??

We are spending a week at an all inclusive resort in Cabo San Lucas for under $1000 (including flights). We got a super low price because we are going a a timeshare sales pitch for 90 minutes. It is worth it to us!

Our airfare from CA to NY and 7 nights at a hotel in Midtown was just over $3000. But that did not include food and other stuff while we were there.

We plan to spend about $5k.

We are doing a week in a secluded cabin on Lake Tahoe. Just for the flights and cabin alone, we've spent a little less than $2k. We plan to do a fishing charter, photo tour, gamble, spa day, etc. while we're there.

    I cannot wait!!!

We are spending roughly $2500 for a seven day cruise + the excursions. So that includes our food and drinks. We may splurge for a couples massage tho. And we are thinking about $300 in gas to New Orleans and back. We were trying to be frugal with out honeymoon.

It depends on what you can afford, like a wedding I don't think going into debt over a vacation is smart. I would say at the cheapest for a nice all-inclusive Caribbean resort $3K-$4K total sounds about right, that would include flights. We spent $8K on ours, because we saved for over a year to be able to afford our honeymoon. I've seen girls on here spending $15K and more, it just depends on your budget.

We're spending $2,500 and going to California for 10 days - roadtrip from San Francisco to San Diego. That number includes our airfare, accommodations, and rental car for the week. It doesn't factor in tickets (day trip to Yosemite, tour of Alcatraz, Disneyland, etc, baseball games that DH wants to go to. . .), food, or souvenirs. I think we'll easily spend 6k when all is said and done.

I'm tryin to stay under 2500 for ours. We're looking at all inclusive trips so that will include: flight, stay, food and alcohol. Expedia and booking.com are my go to's right now.

We are aiming to spend around $6k with airfare and hotel for 10 days at an all inclusive. We may do an excursion or two, but do not plan on spending much money once we get there!

We are looking at about 3K. We have been doing a lot of looking on CheapCaribbean.com to find the best prices as well as Expedia and have talked to a couple travel agents. The resorts come with everything you need and you can pay for extras (like excursions that are not provided in your package). I would just do your research and read lots of reviews before picking a place.

5k, We're going to costa rica for a week. That is budgeting for the hotel, flights, food and excursions. We may go slightly over but we're hoping not! The 13% tourist tax at the hotel is going to kill us.

Okay, as usual, my advice is contrary, lol....

A honeymoon, for many couples, is a once (or not-very-often) in a lifetime opportunity to go away, take time, spend money, and really enjoy each other. You may not have that opportunity for quite some time, especially if you're in career building/house buying/baby raising mode. I say do the most fabulous thing you can afford (without being screaming in debt or feeling guilty). If that doesn't happen right after the wedding? Even better; you have another cool thing to look forward to a little farther down the line.

Many of my couples wait because of school or military commitments, and I think that's a great idea.

I think $3500 or so. We are doing an all inclusive in Puerto Vallarta most likely, and want to stay in the nicest resort we can find and afford Smiley smile We were originally budgeting $2500, but then I thought "THIS IS MY HONEYMOON... a once in a lifetime trip. What's another $1k". Haha. Bad attitude to have when planning a wedding, but... some things are worth splurging on, i think.

    What you can reasonably afford.

I could easily justify spending 8-10k on a honeymoon but the hit to my bank account would not be pretty, so we are doing one for under 2k.

$8000-$9500, hopefully less if depending on planning, but that's the budget. $2200 in tickets, $5000 for lodging, $2000 for spending, 14 nights in Ireland. The lodging is what will put us under if we go with just B&B's versus castle stays.
