What do you think is reasonable to spend on a honeymoon?

My fiance and I have been researching prices for our honeymoon and I was just curious- what do you consider reasonable? I know everyone's budget is different but just curious as to how much you plan on spending on your honeymoon??

We're thinking around $7000 total for our 2 week honeymoon in Italy. We have only bought plane tickets and hotels so far but budgeting for extra for train tickets, tours , food, etc

I think, based on what I have seen here, $3-5k is what is "normal" here. I hope to not be too much over that...

    I agree with Celia!

This is usually a once in a lifetime trip! Don't drown yourself in debt, but go somewhere you want to go and live it up. We went to Italy and four other countries for 3 weeks and spent around 6K. We went to Switzerland for two nights, had a layover in Denmark, went to San Rimini and Vatican City. We did everything between staying in hostels, old palaces, eating at restaurants or a deli, drinking wine and taking tours. It was worth every penny! TAKE PHOTOS (and bring plenty of memory cards) so you can remember it and relive it!

I was trying to be a budgeter... because that is who I am. I am a budget bride, I am always budget conscious, and am always thinking of the best way to get a deal. But Celia, you hit the nail right on the head for me. Thats what hit me all of a sudden. Why not spend what we can afford and do something really special!!

Just to be on the other side of things, my prehusband and I are CHEAPP. Haha. In the long run, I think this'll be good for us-- and I'm glad we both share this trait. Being that practical, we are going to spend maybe 2 nights somewhere really fancy and go nuts with room service-- but the rest of the time we are going backpacking. That's what we love anyways, but boy will it save us loads a' dough in the long run-- oh but how I do get sick of granola bars. We're thinkin' maybe 1200 in total.

We spent about $2800 on the flights and hotel for 7 nights (from Baltimore to Puerto Rico). We spent about $1100 on food, excursions, rental cars, taxis, etc. while we were there.
