what does your wedding day timeline look like?

Dyanne, on January 5, 2014 at 12:16 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 18

Hello!

I am having a morning wedding with a brunch reception. With the wedding 10 months away im really starting the planning. Yay!

So I am wondering what does your day look like? Already married or still planning, do you have your timeline yet?

You should definitely start a rough timeline, but be willing to modify it based on recommendations from your hair and makeup stylist, photographer, and DJ especially. IE how long to allow for makeup, time to allow for photos and how long to book the photographer for....and the DJ can definitely help with the reception timeline based on your guest count, size of the reception area, and specifics you want out of the event.

I haven't got the entire timeline done but I started with the photographer on what he would need.

Photos start at 130(we are doing as many pictures without FH seeing each other before)

Photo schedule is super detailed but that is ending by 430

People will being to be seated at 5

Walk down the aisle at 530

    Cocktail hour 6-7

    Reception 7-11

    Reception will start with intros

    Then first dance

    Toasts

    Then dinner

During dinner we will walk to each table to greet all our guests

Then we will do father/daughter and mother/son dance

    Rest of the night dance

    Rough Draft…

The girls are having a lazy morning and the guys are going target shooting for their outing...

    11:00 Hair & Makeup

1:30 Maids/Groomsmen Photos (no First Look)

3:15 Pre Wedding Prayer with entire BP (Still not seeing FH, we will stay "hidden")

    3:30 Wedding

    4:00 Photos/Cocktail Hour

    5:00 Dinner

6:30 First Dance & Formal Dances

    7:00 Open Dancing

    8:00 Cake

    9:00 Bouquet & Garter Toss

10:00 Back to the Vacation Rental for the After Party (Grand Exit will be via school bus, I'm a teacher, and will take the after party guests to the rental)

The whole thing might move up 30min if dinner takes less than 1.5 hours

8-10 - set up at reception site (unless they let me do it the night before)

    11am - hair and make-up

    3 - Bridal party photography

    3:45 - Head to ceremony/reception site

    4 - Ceremony

    4:30-5:15 - Photographs/cocktail hour

    5:30 - Dinner

6:15 - First dance (FH is making me do this... argh. We don't dance)

    7:30 - Cake cutting

Until 10 - Over! We have to clean and be outta there by midnight.

We might have the cake cutting earlier. Our venue is an hour outside city limits, which makes it 2 hours outside for people on the farther side of the city (Houston is the epitome of urban sprawl) - so if people get antsy to leave around 7, we'll cut the cake then. Or even earlier. We're flexible.

I have noooo idea. I wish I knew. I should probably start figuring this out. My main concern is starting hair/makeup too early or too late. To the people who already posted- can you post how many people will be getting their hair & makeup done in that allotted time? And by how many hair/MUA ? Does that make sense?

    I was thinking for me:

9am - get to the venue and begin decorating

    10:30am-12pm - Hair and makeup

12pm - Back at the house for dress up and last minute touch ups

1pm - get to ceremony place and hide

2pm - walk down the isle

2:45 ish - pictures with the bridal party

3:45ish - get to reception and get the party started!

    4pm - food served

    5pm - cake cutting

5:30pm-8pm - enjoy the evening and let unexpected things happen!

@sherell my wedding also a sunday morning at 10am. Im not sure yet either if I can go to the bridal suite that early, since I will probably start make up and hair at 6am.

What I am going to do is rent a hotel room the night

Before with my girls. Maybe you can do that.
