What Exactly Does a Day-of Wedding Coordinator Do?

Briana, on June 9, 2024 at 2:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 2
Hello! I understand a day-of wedding coordinator is meant to ensure the day runs smoothly. I am just wondering if someone can break down all the responsibilities so I understand how to get my moneys worth. For example, I’m struggling on the timeline. Are they meant to create that or help with it?

You can hire coordinators for month of or just day of. If you just hire them for the day, they will oversee everything on the day (make sure everyone sticks to the schedule, communicates with all the vendors, makes sure decor is set up/taken down properly, etc.). If you hire them for month of, they also take care of all those communications and the like for the month leading up to the wedding. They can absolutely help with timeline. You usually work together with all your vendors to create timeline (for instance, venue, photographer, DJ, and hair and make up, along with officiant for the ceremony portion). The month of coordinator can help put together the timeline with all your other vendors as well.

Yes, they can help you with the timeline, and once it’s set they’ll communicate with all the different groups (bride, groom, attendants, DJ, caterer, etc) to make sure things happen on schedule. They’ll coordinate with vendors arriving and setting up while you just have to worry about getting dressed. Any problems that come up during the day, they’ll handle instead of you having to be bothered. Mine handled all the little details like fluffing my train just before I walked out, making sure my husband and I got a private moment just after the ceremony, and making sure we actually got food at the reception. I think they’re well worth it!
