What features did you add on your wedding website? Any advice?

The Sealpups, on May 28, 2019 at 4:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

I'm in the final stages of finishing the wedding website. I'm using ZOLA. The home page gives you the option of add your "how we met" and "the proposal" stories. I added a "Welcome to our website" heading with an overview of the website. I was also thinking of adding a "Blessings" section aka how he told my parents (and grandma) that we were ready and wanted their blessing. It's old school and we're modern but it's cute. It's the first time my grandmother was ever asked for her blessing and 3 are already married. It's not so much that he needed their permission but something kinda old school. We've been together for years and they've been waiting so patiently haha Thoughts? What would be a good headliner? I've also been doing movie pun subtitles too Smiley smile

Also, for the pictures section, I noticed most people added their pictures throughout the years. I just added a few pictures from our engagement and planning to do a "timeline picture" at the reception. Any thoughts?

Thanks everyone!

    Hi there Smiley smile

That is so sweet that your FS asked your grandmother, I think it’s a lovely idea to include this!

With the pictures, I would pop on the website whatever you and your FS are comfortable with. If you don’t want to include pictures from throughout the years, don’t feel you have to!

There are two WeddingWire articles I wanted to share with you to help you with the website. The first is a straightforward article about what to include on the website! You can use it as a checklist to make sure you have all the details you need on there!

The second is an article with some ideas on how to add some personal touches to the site! The last one is actually what you spoke about, the ‘Now and Then’ photos!

    I hope these are helpful!

Will you be having guests RSVP on the website?

    I have these sections:
About us - tells our story such as proposal and a little about each of us
Ceremony - gives more info regarding the ceremony venue
Reception - gives more info regarding the reception
You can consolidate the ceremony and reception info into one. I just did it as two separate sections because it was actually alot of info I had for each.
Wedding party profiles - I have pics and a short bio for each member of the wedding party as a way for people to know a little more about them
Registry - linked to my registry
    RSVP - guests RSVP online
Photo gallery - this is where we housed our engagement photos and photos of us as a couple
Guest book- there is a section for people to leave their wishes and comments and contact us if needed
Faqs - this page just had a bunch of random info that people may have in their minds
Vietnamese translation - my wedding is bilingual so we has a single page that was all info in vietnamese

My website is very info driven but to be honest I really don't feel like people thoroughly go through it or much at all ahaha. But it is nice to have it for people as a reference anyway.

If you have any guests travelling there then maybe you can add info regarding where to stay and what to do.

Oh my front page also had a countdown clock timer to show how many days left. And I password protected all my stuff.
