What flavor(s) of wedding cake did you pick?

Rachel, on August 9, 2020 at 9:31 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 30
Hi, ladies!

I want to know... what flavor or flavors of wedding cake did you pick? I am trying to get some ideas for mine. I’m not too big/thrilled about cakes with fruit fillings and my favorite cake of all time is just a simple vanilla with vanilla filling... but I thought I’d pose the question to see what others have selected to perhaps get some ideas!

We chose a marble cake with a chocolate bavarian cream, we figured if we chose vanilla and chocolate we would get the best of both worlds

I had a three tier cake. The first two tiers were strawberry filling and the last largest one was mango filling but all of it was white cake

We're getting married this fall and our cake that we cut will be red velvet (it's my fave!!) and the guests will be able to choose between apple cake with cinnamon buttercream, pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting, and white cake with vanilla frosting!!!

You should choose a place where you can try a variety of flavors and fillings because you never know. We ended up going with (three layer per tier cake) 2 layers strawberry which was not a cake we had any hopes for and we loved it; one layer chocolate and a strawberry mousse filling with fresh strawberries mixed in. We were set on a half vanilla half chocolate cake with buttercream filling and went completely in a different direction.

So my FH doesn’t do dessert. But when we went to pick out cakes, he loved the flavors that our baker had.
We’re doing a lemon cake with blueberry filling for the wedding party and cupcakes for the guests in pink champagne, white almond, and lemon.

We chose chocolate/vanilla marble cake with dark chocolate filling and buttercream on top.

...This was a compromise for me, as I am a firm believer that if a cake is not chocolate from frosting on down, why is there even cake?

But it ended up being super delicious, and... apparently not everyone wants all chocolate? (I don't understand this, I'm sorry.)

I’m a pastry chef and make wedding cakes for a living. Hands down, my most popular flavor is Vanilla Almond Salted Caramel. Everyone loves the vanilla Almond because it gives the vanilla that extra something it needs but is still simple enough.

We're doing a red velvet with buttercream frosting, though we only got a small cake for my fiance and I to cut into (and for us to eat in the weeks after our wedding). Our main dessert for our reception will be tiramisu.

Our wedding is in the FL keys so we wanted something tropical. Our wedding cake will actually be Strawberry cake with Passion Fruit butter cream. We'll also have that in cupcakes along with Key Lime and Key lime butter cream. We wanted something to pay homage to the area we're in and the strawberry / passion fruit happened on accident. We fell in love with our bakers sample cake. Even she was surprised as no one had ever asked for it, nor had she ever made that profile. And we just randomly picked it because we needed 6 flavors.

Not married yet, but we did do our cake tasting. We're getting a two-tier cake for cutting and two large sheet cakes for serving. All the cake will be vanilla with buttercream frosting, and the fillings (one per cake) are lemon, raspberry, and guava. They had a hazlenut option I liked, but FMIL has a nut allergy so to avoid any cross contamination with that we went for fruit fillings.

We decided to go with Publix because they were a little cheaper, but since it's not a "designer" cakery we were a little limited on the flavors we could choose.
