What gift to give a newly married couple?

Josh , on September 28, 2009 at 8:40 PM Posted in Married Life 0 14

Were looking at getting some gifts for people at our reception for certain things. Here is what were thinking.

-First to RSVP

-Newly weds(besides us, to be giving to first couple knocked out of the anniversary dance)

-Longest Married(given to the final couple standing during aniversary dance)

- Farthest distance traveled.

We want the stuff to be fun things not stationary or something boring like that.

At my FH cousins wedding they did an anniversary dance knocking out all the married couples until the got to the last one. Well they knew the last one would be her grandparents so the gift they had was a nice framed picture of one of their engagement pictures. That could be an idea for the longest married if you are in the same situation.

The gifts we are giving our guests is a donation to the Go Red association b/c my mom passed away 6 years ago from a massive heart attack...we thought making a donation in her honor would be better then spending money on something our guest wouldnt care about...

Oh, I like that idea but I'm not sure I'll know which person has been married the longest. Maybe a gas card for the furthest traveled. Maybe a 1st Christmas sort of ornament for the newlyweds--it's right around the corner. I can't think of anything for the first to RSVP.

Not sure what you guys think but we were thinking of a nice wall clock for the first to RSVP.

I think we will use the photo idea because her grandparents have been married over 60 years and i dont think anybody will be any longer then that.

For the longest traveled we were think a gas card.

The one we are really running into for ideas is the newlyweds gift.

How about a gift card to Bed Bath and Beyond to help finish off their registry?

I agree with pp, a gift card to the place they registered to help finish off their registry would be nice! I have never heard of anyone doing this... it's a great idea!

Wow this is great idea! I too planned on having an anniversary dance but wasn't sure how it would go over because I've never seen one done around here at a wedding but my idea was instead of doing a garter and bouquet toss, we're going to give them to the couple married the longest to honor them and how long they've made it. We only have like 3 unmarried couples coming to the wedding so, and I can remember all the times I went to wedding how humiliated I felt when I got "Called Out". It just made sense for us and we thought it would be a nice touch. But this is a great idea to get things rolling and get people involved! Smiley smile

What a GREAT idea. I wish I had thought of this for my wedding! We had more of a traditional wedding, but it was just wonderful.

For the newlyweds I would say a marriage survival kit that includes things like inspirational marriage quote book, candles, a box of strawberries dipped in chocolate, a flute glass with words 'We Made It', a cd with soothing love songs.

For the longest married, I would say a hula dancer ( the really cute ones you can find at local shops), the Dirty Dancing CD for sure! And, a silver frame along with a picture of them dancing at your reception.

For farthest distance traveled, maybe embroidered his & hers pillow cases, travel kit with things like body wash, perfume ( something that concerns time), long lasting chewing gum, and maybe go , as far as, ordering something from over seas. Smiley smile
