I’ve looked into a taco bar, which is a super affordable option, but FH really wants BBQ, which is more expensive for sure. I’ve got several leads, and am in the process of scheduling tastings within the next few weeks. I just talked to FH about it last night and he’s going to start asking some of his buddies who are known for BBQing at big parties to see if he might be able to do it!

I love that advice!! Such a good point, it's nice to have others input, but when it comes down to the decisions it should be what you and your partner want!!

Aww I'm sorry! It can be difficult when there is family drama involved in the planning process, but hopefully everyone can have a day that's tension free!

I haven’t really experienced too many headaches thus far. I put a lot of pressure on myself and I want things done when I want them done. I set a goal that I wanted to finish paying for the wedding by the new year; I finished paying it off in October.

NYC is a very difficult location to find those cheaper venues, so I totally understand that! What kinds of venues have you been looking at?

Guest List!!! The guest list has definitely been the hardest for me so far. We actually ended up inviting a few more than our capacity (in hopes that we will get some "no" responses), because we couldn't narrow it down enough. And I still have people we weren't able to invite that I wish we could.

That's the goal! But, I'm working on telling myself that it is not my job to mend family relationships.

I feel you. Especially when you want to talk to vendors and get pricing over the phone and they refuse to give it to you unless it's in person. Biggest pain in the butt.

Everything has been a headache Smiley sad I haven't prepare my budget. My fiance is in a different country than me so we cant sit down and plan everything the way we should. I haven't decide on the venue because the places that I've liked they dont have my date available and the place that do is way too expensive. Im so confused with everything, its making me frustrated. I NEED HEEELP.

My biggest headache is that planning is at a standstill. My fiance is so overwhelmed by the financial aspect of it that we have not done any real planning. I almost feel like we were better off before we were engaged so that she wasn't always stressed about money for that or ignoring when I bring it up.

I'm still in the early stages of planning- I am literally booking and signing the contract for the venue today, but two things have been the most difficult. Mainly planning a lot of this on my own since my fiance is deployed overseas..pictures and pictures of papers only help so much, my MOH has also been doubling as my wedding planner because she's wonderful and my mom has been totally awesome. But its never easy without him and I still have to plan alone until next April.

The other hard thing I didn't expect is his mother and older brother are now kind of against the wedding itself, not against us getting married, and are kind of wanting us to provide proof that we meet their relationship standards before they completely approve -_- No offense but MIL is divorced and her ex husband put her in a horrible situation with his selfish actions and the older brother eloped randomly with little thought about it and is now divorced after only 3 years of marriage. I've spoken up for both of us since fiance isn't here to do it himself but they'll never be happy without their proof..they'll have to learn to deal with the wedding.

The guest list can be so hard, especially when you have so many special people you want to be there!

I'm so sorry Aleczandra!! It can be so stressful to narrow down the budget and wedding date, especially when you don't have your fiance around to make these decisions with! WeddingWire and myself are here and happy to help you with the whole process! Smiley smile

Trying to get deposits down to vendors. FH are really strapped for cash and we're trying really hard to seal the date with our DJ and photography. Obviously, they can't reserve our date without a down payment. But we've been swamped by bills and rent and we haven't been able to put aside all of the deposits for the vendors. I'm so scared we are going to lose them! Smiley sad I let them know the situation. This has been weighing my mind so much recently.

I'm so sorry to hear that the financial aspect is causing added stress, it can be such a hard part of the planning process figuring out a budget and what not. Is it the venue that is costing the most?

Exciting that you have the venue and date set, but I can see how difficult it would be to plan and make these decisions without your fiance here. April will be here before you know it and he'll be back! Very thankful for his service! As for his mother and oldest brother, I'm so sorry that you have to deal with that added stress during this time. They'll come around hopefully and be excited for you all to have a wedding to celebrate your love!
