Tina, on February 27, 2014 at 11:53 PM Posted in Planning 1 44

Sone of my close friends just had babies. I want them to be at the ceremony but just wonder what if the babies cry during the ceremony?

Responsible parents then take them out of the room. But not all parents are responsible. So, like the majority of the weddings I've gone to, you may just have to hear a baby crying. Hence why we're doing no kids.

You continue with the ceremony and they take the baby outside

Then they cry. Not like you're going to stop the ceremony. I'm sure it'll be my own baby crying at my wedding. Hopefully he'll sleep through it lol.

Your marriage will be doomed. Might as well pack it all in and send everyone home.

This is why we're not allowing kids. Problem(s) solved.

Babies cry at almost every function I'm at. Hopefully, the parents will be responsible and take their children out while they cry. To try to help, I'm going to provide a free nursery that my church has if people wish to use it.

I think the only logical answer is to have someone shoot it... ...jk..not funny lol hopefully a parent would excuse themselves with the child

You'll just have to keep the show moving. Hopefully, they will step outside, but unfortunately this is not always the case. I'm with some of the other brides and am going kid free!

Babies do that sometimes. Not a big deal, and not something to stress yourself out over

I'm pretty sure babies aren't the only ones who will be crying....,my mother already requested tissues be available at the ready! Smiley tongue

Also, if you're as worried about kids getting bored as I am, Oriental Trading has wedding themed coloring books and other activity goodies for way cheap! And my grandmother recently informed me you can now get customized goldfish crackers. Happy kids=happy parents=happy wedding lol

@mizangi totally beat me to it. I came in here to say, "Then your marriage is invalid and you have to wait a year to try again."

OH MY GOD YOUR FRIENDS BABIES CRY?! They must be broken.

Seriously, if a baby crying is the worst thing to happen at my wedding, then I consider it a good day.

There's a chance a baby will cry at an inopportune moment. Then again, there is also a chance that your alcoholic uncle will make an inappropriate comment at an inopportune moment. If you want to make it a family event instead of having just the officiant and the two of you there, you risk some inappropriate noises. Such noises will represent a funny story later on, and will not invalidate your marriage.

I see your concern especially if you're having an outdoor wedding. If a baby starts to cry it's hard to take the baby far enough away to not be heard anymore. If you're having an outdoor wedding then possibly not allowing kids is the best option. You may risk not having your friends there though. Otherwise, just hope that the parents try their best to have happy (or asleep) babies and if you think they may not know to leave if the baby gets fussy then politely tell them beforehand where they can go in that situation.

I was just raising a concern, no reason for rude/insensitive comments. For me, if I see topics that I find silly or uninteresting, I just move on to other posts. Why do some people feel the need to attack others over silly things AND waste their time doing it?

Thanks to those with serious comments. I appreciate your input.

Tina, I'm sorry; I would tell them no. Most people would try to calm their baby but if the baby is fussy, you will hear it. It will be distracting to your guest too. I put an age limit to our wedding, no children under ___________. So when I walked down the aisle, "all eyes were on me" and my song was "I Believe in You, by Whitney Houston" A baby crying isn't hot and would have taken away from my moment.

What if an adult starts crying?

    So many "ifs."

If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas.
