What is a Bam?

Arlene, on September 22, 2020 at 2:49 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

This may sound silly, but what exactly is a BAM?

I keep seeing it but no one actually explains what it is or means so I'm a little confused.

BAM stands for "Back And Married" - it's where people post pictures from their wedding day.

In addition to pictures, a BAM might also include a run-down of the wedding day (what went perfectly/what was a mess), a list of vendors (and sometimes quick reviews), and budget info. Many brides/couples are on the forum for a long time during wedding planning and sort of develop a following among other readers who want to hear/see how a long talked about wedding turned out: a BAM is the way a bride/couple does that! Also, there is sort of an unwritten rule that the ONLY acceptable response to a BAM post (and a dress post) is a supportive, positive response. Most other posts will get a range of "honest" responses pointing out the pros and cons related to the question asked, but a BAM is sacred -- you can only say super positive things! (As it should be!) I appreciate the information MOB - and it totally makes sense.

When I was on here last year, I was more participatory. It's just been so much going on that I'm just now getting back on so I missed a lot of the preliminary details. We reset our date, but didn't really start re-planning until about 3 months out. It was mostly trying to scale things back due to COVID. The ceremony deets are about the same, just a much smaller guest list. The biggest change has been to not have a reception. I'd like to perhaps do a celebratory gathering for our 1st anniversary, fingers crossed.

I missed being able to share and get feedback from other ladies and just getting the overall feeling of encouragement from being on here so I'm glad that I came back Smiley heart

I totally did not know it was either before. I think I had to look at another discussion forum post in order to find out what it was
