I think the best price I was quoted was $795 to include $50 out of county travel fees plus Organized schedule of Events; Music Search through his website with over 8 million songs; Pandora internet radio station is created a week before so you can get a feel of what will be played; 5 hours with Deluxe Sound w/Powered Sub Woofer, Deluxe Lighting w/12- Up Lights. Does that sound pretty good?

Mine is $750 which is listed as a discount from $1250. I had expected the cost to only be about $500 so I was shocked at the price. Apparently I got the "good" DJ from the company, though.

Our DJ quoted us at $1200 for 7 hours and his most basic package (which includes lighting). I talked him down to $900. I told myself I would not pay over $1000. Remember, everything is negotiable.

I'm paying $745 for mine and they are highly rated on WW for Oregon DJ's lol

However, there's some discount there because my wedding is during the day and the DJ is on the recommended vendor list of my venue. Smiley smile

I'm paying $1000 for five hours. Regular lighting nothing fancy. Sounds like a fair price.

So far I've been quoted anywhere from ****! So far it looks like we're going with the $1100. Nothing to do with his price, but because we really liked his personality and just during our meeting he was full of great suggestions. Plus it doesnt hurt that I know several people who used him and have heard great reviews!

According to the American DJ Association (www.adja.org) the average price of a wedding DJ falls between $1000 and $1500. Lighting tends to bring the price up, especially if you want to do something elaborate with the lighting. There area regional variations. Southern California and New York tend to be rather high, compared to other parts of the country.

Enter your zip code at that site and you'll see how much people pay for their DJs. It even separates into two price categories: average, and for high quality pros.

And don't forget, just like everyone else you'll be hiring, they're not all the same. You can find a list of things to consider so you'll have questions as you call/email around (http://www.robertbenda.com/weddings.html), like: Does the DJ have to play your requests? It seems like a no brainer, but many DJs reserve the right to use their judgement. If you find someone you trust, that may not bother you, but maybe it's a huge deal for you. At least you'll know going in.

What does lighting usually mean with DJ's?

I am trying to gauge if they generally only offer the disco strobe light or what?

You will find DJs for 300 and djs for 3000. The most important factor when choosing your entertainment is making sure they are a good fit. Ask questions about their experience, whether they are insured etc. Ask for references, video, and testimonials. Before you break out the checkbook remember, this is your wedding. You only get one shot. Make it count.

IMO experience and equipment knowledge are also a very important part of the selection process as well. A DJ can have a super personality and be great with people but if something goes wrong with a speaker and he doesn't know how to bypass a woofer then you end up with a 1 speaker wedding reception. All of our DJs have done at least 100 weddings.

I am a wedding dj and the average cost of a dj runs in between $1,000 to $3,000 for 4-6 hours. The higher prices reflect lighting and special services.

The average wedding is between $20,000 to $30,000. You should expect that your dj will run 5 to 10 percent of your total budget.

Remember you wedding dj is an important part of your celebration!
