What is the best way to serve beer? Bottle or Keg?

Judi, on February 17, 2017 at 9:59 AM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 22

Im asking because I need to set up the liquor distributor for the wedding. If I choose Keg, I can only use one distributor... If I choose bottles I can use whichever I like....

Is there a benefit to kegs versus bottle?

I assume bottle is more expensive but I can keep the bottles that aren't used once the party is over right? and wouldn't bottles taste better? Could I offer more variety if I order bottles? or are bottles harder to keep cold?

I dont drink so HELP

Bottles it's easier to do a variety. Keg is usually cheaper but depending on amount ur getting u may only have one or two options. You also may need to provide cups. So that's a question for vendor.

Bottle. Zero waste, easier to cool.

    Definitely bottles. Less wasted beer.

Keg or draft tastes better than bottles.

But it limits your options (unless you do small kegs like the sixtel size or you're venue is set up for a bunch of taps like mine is).

Bottles are usually easier, gives you more optionals but is not necessarily cheaper.

From a practical standpoint, it's a LOT easier for me to dance with a bottle of beer Smiley tongue

My venue has the kegs hidden beneath the bar (essentially kegerators) so only the tap handles are visible.

Do you have this at your venue too or would the kegs just be sitting out in the open?

I heard bottles are faster to serve, helping cut lines down!

Our venue is BYOB. FH and I are huge Angry Orchard fans so we will probably have a keg for that and also offer bottled beers.

Kegs have no place at a wedding.

@Laura K., that means no draft beer and that is really really sad.

My whole wedding is centered on the fact we wanted delicious draft beer at the brewery it gets made at....and it will be very tasteful and classy.

Bottles. Unless you're at a brewery.

@Laura, it's not going to be like a college frat party... most venues will have a bar with taps. Where do you think the beer comes from at restaurants and bars?

I agree with @Punkin that beer tastes better on draft but bottles are way more convenient and allow you to offer a variety. We'll be having 2 draft beers (along with wine and soda) included in our beverage package and if people don't like those 2 there is a huge variety of bottles for purchase.

Bottles. Aside from all the other reasons mentioned, if something goes wrong and the keg doesn't tap, you're screwed.

We had bottles. To help keep costs down, we purchased from a store that allows returns of unopened cases.

We have to supply our own alcohol and are using cans, also providing koozies. This way there are a lot more options. We can also take home the leftovers.

Kegs might be a cheaper option but less variety.

Though draft keg or draft would taste better, bottle is way easier for a wedding and loads faster

We are using kegs because it's cheaper overall because we are going to have about 250 guests
