What is the BEST wedding favor your ever received?

Private User, on June 6, 2012 at 9:53 PM

I've only been to a few weddings that even did favors, so I'm curious to hear what other people are giving out. I have received: a photo album, a shot glass, coasters, someone donated to charity in lieu...that is honestly all the favors I can remember. You guys?

I'm painting their wine glasses to look like daffodils and I'm painting each person's name on their glass. If you bake them in the oven, they're dishwasher safe :-)

The best was a drink cozy, each time I use it (usually on hot summer nights or at the beach) I think of my cousins wedding, it was a good time and a good memory, I've never taken the little plastic wine glasse filled w/ candies, ect. (I just dont like them(at all, to me, very 1980's, been there, done that, a LONG time ago!) We are giving out birdseed hearts (as placecards/favors) and at the end of the reception my daughters will pass out homemade wedding cake shaped sugar cookies , they've actually turned out really nice, I decorated them with white icing, used little pale pink decorative (edible) pearls and wrapped each one individually and tied it with ribbon to ribbon that matches the girls dresses.

Bottle openers never been a fan of edible stuff because they were usually really cheap made.

I don't think I've ever gotten a memorable favor, which is why, unless we find something we love we are not planning to do favors.

We went to a wedding of a NJ couple who met in Kentucky on a Habitat for Humanity trip. There is a soft drink that is made in the town of Beatyville, where they met. They donated to the Habitat of Beatyville and purchased 16 oz bottles of the soft drink for everyone. They attached a note to each bottle (which was at our place setting) that explained where they met, why this soft drink and why they were donating to that particular Habitat. They supported the very poor town by buying from the local soft drink facility and by donating money to that particular Habitat. It was heartfelt and fun at the same time!

I've loved the edible favors i've gotten, but i think my favorites are a tie between photo strips from photo booths and a drink cozy. My friend had the most relaxed, beautiful wedding in CA and they gave out cozys in the wedding color with their names and the date on it. still use it!

we're doing a photo booth, and i might add some kind of candy favor if i have the time to put them together.

At a wedding in the FL Keys, we got little gift baskets with some Key Lime cookies from a local bakery, some local hot sauce, and some candy. At another wedding, we got a little box with some locally made fudge.

I have to agree with everyone saying something edible. We did mason jars filled with the dry ingredients to chocolate chip cookies. The last thing I need is a trinket.

Yeah, I was going to add that to our registry about donation to that charity. I think most people would still get us the gifts on our registry though, because they know we are young and just starting out!

My favorite was a donation to Alex's Lemonade Stand. The Bride worked for them and gave out little bags of Candy where some of the proceeds went to the foundation.

@Stacy A - thanks - we are doing two donations instead of favors & I added that to my wedding website that the guests could make a donation instead of a gift. I also told my MOH about it too. That is a great idea!

My sister did coozies (sp?) that said their names and date of the wedding. I really liked that idea!

Not to dis the charitable donation but I've never understood how people see that as a favor to their guests?....I've seen it before and it's not like I get all bent about it, I just find the idea kind of odd. As a guest it really has nothing to do with me. Just IMO.

Usually if it's not something edible I leave it behind. The only exceptions have been photo booth strips, and then this little heart ornament that was made out of birdseed. They were cute, so we actually took those home to hang outside for the birdies.

Our favors were my mom's homemade cookies. We set a box at each place setting. Also, we had a sweets/popcorn bar with containers so people could take things home.

If people skip favors entirely, honestly I do not even notice.

Every wedding I have been to passed out favors. I love them. The best one was a wine and a candle.

We are having picture frames as our favor.

The only one that was memorable was the couple made buttons (the kind you put on backpacks) with cartoon images of them on them and the date of the wedding. Useless for me but a cute idea.

I've never received a great favor. I hate large ugly candles, don't like DIY fridge magnets, don't have a yard so seeds/bulbs are useless, HATE donations to charity. That being said - I dislike it even more when there isn't a favor at all. (Wow, I sure sound like a witch!)

We are doing homemade candles in little travel tins. It was an easy way to do something in our wedding colors but in the sense that I think everyone likes. Plus I did the number for it and the homemade vs. pre-maid was about 2.50 differences.

@Kris I was thinking about just skipping the favor too- Candles? would mostly be for the women. Candy? Not everyone eats it (I don't). I have seen so many favors left behind no matter what it is. I didn't want to spend money for people to just leave it.

I can see you thinking a donation has nothing to do with you, but I really think most favors have little to do with their guests. I got a rice krispie treat once as a favor. It didn't even have the bride or grooms name on it! You eat it & toss the wrapper!

I really like animals, and I try to volunteer and donate whenever I can. I have helped many friends adopt their pets through one shelter I really like. When I saw other people on WW talking about donating, I decided I wanted to do the same thing. I think my guests will appreciate that more than me giving out something like candy which wouldn't even represent us as a couple. and if they don't appreciate it, at least the shelters will! =)

We are having a photo booth. So that will be their favor. Guest can take as many photos as they like. Double strips so half goes in an album and the other half is for them.
