H and I and friends were talking last night about our wedding and a moment from our reception came up. I said from the VERY beginning I will not kiss when someone clinks on their glass I absolutely can not stand that.

At dinner we had JUST sat down with our plates and H dad started clinking his glasses and his whole famn damily started, and my friend showed me a picture she got of me giving the most bitch face stare down ever.

The clinking lasted no joke three minutes until the waitress who was taking care of H and I went over and told him to stop that I did not find it appropriate.

So I am wondering does anyone else hate this too, or what really erks you?

Garter toss and plated dinners. Also, groom and MIL dance... just weird.

Garter toss! I told FH that I don't want to do the garter toss at the wedding. He is from India and didn't know what it was so I told him the whole process (including him having to go under my dress to get it)...And he said "ehhhh??? No, we don't want that!" hahaha. His face looked confused and slightly horrified (and he isn't conservative).

Oh and I forgot receiving lines... I'm too socially awkward and shy for that. Just thinking about it makes me uncomfortable.

I think I'm getting a gong and we're going to use it in lieu of clinking. Seriously! Someone will have to be brave and get up in front of everyone. On the other hand, I've never rung a gong before! The novelty could drive more people to try it.

FH and I do not do PDA. Even our e-pics were torture for us because our photog kept making us kiss each other. Now, in private we are all over each other, but in public, hand-holding is as risque as we get. So the clinking is going to be absolutely toture for us. And the tosses. gah!

I can't just pick ONE (there are so many!) but when I think of the most awkward for me personally, it was always that dreaded bouquet toss.

    I shudder.

The new one of expecting your guests to cover the price of entertaining them through their gifts. Ug.

The garter toss doesn't bother me so much as the whole removal of it. The music, the groom disappearing under the bride's skirt and removing it with his teeth... Everyone watching... Nope. That will not be happening.

The garter and the bouquet toss are at the top of my list, but the glass clinking is pretty annoying too.

    1) Posed pictures of the bride and groom with their eyes closed- clearly fake.

    2) Bridesmaids in identical dresses- Only felt this way after I was a BM. I felt silly showing up to a party in the same dress as 4 other girls. Felt very middle school like.

    3) Groom dressed the same as the groomsmen- let him stand out.

    4) Receiving lines! - So annoying to wait in long lines with heels on, plus you don't actually get to visit with the bride and groom.

I completely forgot about the clinking thing. That would definitely have to be my least favorite tradition.

I HATE the glass clinking thing too! They did this at my brother's wedding and the first time it was fine. 15 times later it was so annoying.

I also am not a fan of the groom going up the dress garter search. We will not be doing that!

So glad, around here whoever catches the garter/bouquet is the next man/woman to get married. There is NO putting it on her leg. Sometimes, they dance together, but we skipped that. I'm glad we did the garter toss, cause we have a great pic of my older brother (who was 29 at the time) leaning over to snag it away from my baby brother (who was 13). He *really* wanted it!

Most I don't mind, but if someone suggests I do a dollar dance, I'm going to throw my shoe at them. I think that is EXTREMELY tacky.

I am not sure I understand the animosity towards the glass clinking. It has never been on my radar.

The garter toss was the one thing that I put my foot down and refused to even contemplate.

Since I was a child, I have been completely disgusted by the garter toss. You meant to tell me you're going to sensually take something off my thigh (with our families watching) and give it to your friend, who is then supposed to put it on the thigh of the woman who catches some flowers??? (I've seen people do that second part) I'm sorry, but your friends can't share anything on, in, or around me. Or my friends. It all sounds like a way to violate women.

The bouquet toss bothers me too. Clearly your funky little flowers won't help me get married. Keep em.

I've never heard of a glass clinking, but I would punch the person who does that at my wedding. I also hate the food options on the RSVP card (eat what I buy!), all the Crap you're supposed to put in the invitation envelope (don't waste my time with that), and wedding etiquette in general!

Oh you said "one". Oops lol

Angela, "The bouquet toss bothers me too. Clearly your funky little flowers won't help me get married. Keep em." HAHAHAHAHA that line gave me a good laugh!!!

The smashing-cake-in-each-others-faces is really weird. Seems a little passive-aggressive. Plus, I love cake too much to waste it like that.
