H and I and friends were talking last night about our wedding and a moment from our reception came up. I said from the VERY beginning I will not kiss when someone clinks on their glass I absolutely can not stand that.

At dinner we had JUST sat down with our plates and H dad started clinking his glasses and his whole famn damily started, and my friend showed me a picture she got of me giving the most bitch face stare down ever.

The clinking lasted no joke three minutes until the waitress who was taking care of H and I went over and told him to stop that I did not find it appropriate.

So I am wondering does anyone else hate this too, or what really erks you?

I'm actually pretty against all of them. At this point, I just want to have a nice dinner party with 100 of my closest friends and relatives. Of particular note though, are (1) tossing the garter and bouquet, (2) giving away the bride (it's archaic), (3) Unity anything, UGH. (4) Chicken dance, dollar dance, electric slide, or anything else that feels forced. (5) First dance (we're doing it anyway) (6) No booze (I'm not gonna lie, I am bored to tears without booze) (7) also noted, clinking glasses to make the couple kiss. I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of them now.

ETA: Just realized you only asked for one. (8) Children at weddings. How's that?

So many good ones on here I've never heard of the chair dance.

Thankfully the dollar dance isn't real well known around here I would HATE that!

The automatic expectation that the bride will change her name is the worst--and that's saying something, since there are a bunch of them I don't like. But at least the others tend to be over after the wedding day. Changing one's name means that it is much more difficult for anyone who knew you--professionally or personally--before the wedding ever to find you again. I can't count the number of women from my life whom I have totally lost the ability to find again because I don't know their current name. Meanwhile, men are not expected to completely reinvent themselves just because they get married.

My number one is the garter toss... I don't like it at all... I am also not to doing the bouquet toss because I find it strange to make a group of singles fight to catch a bouquet of flowers for what? to be the "next one" to get married. So silly... I don't really mind the glass clicking but then again I haven't had it done and with me being partially deaf it might actually hurt my ears (high pitch sounds kind of radiate through my head not cool!) the name thing though I am happy to change :0)
