What is your favorite part of wedding planning?

Sophia, on April 19, 2015 at 9:28 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 38

Other than finding my dress, I’d say my favorite part of wedding planning so far has been coming up with the gifts for my bridesmaids and the MOH. And I really enjoyed all the DIY's project I had.

I’d love to know what everyone else enjoyed the most and why?

I agree, I already did my wedding party gifts and have a year until the wedding haha! I think it was the most fun b/c it let me get a little crafty. I did personalized beach bags that are holding "bridesmaids hangers", personalized robes, a survival kit and card with the itinerary for the day. What did you do? I love DIY projects Smiley smile

Honestly was spending time with my girls! Wedding planning was my distraction from dealing with work and my father's illness, that at times left me off work for days on end due to the severity of his condition (THANK GOD FOR FMLA). I spent hours upon hours doing research sitting in his hospital room. I get to see my best friends only once in awhile, not often enough. I loved spending time with them shopping for dresses and the DIY project etc.

I've enjoyed every minute of it! I think picking our venue was the most exciting part. Here's what we settled on...

Favourite bit was reconnecting with family. We moved away and I got sick so it's been years since I've been well enough to see them - having everyone reiterate that we were still as close even if we've not visited, was lovely.

I think my favorite part was picking out our invitations. I just really loved looking at all the different options! I still need to work on bm gifts so maybe that'll be fun when I get to it.

Sending out the invitations! At least so far. I love getting RSVPs back. It makes it all real.

I just had my most excited moment of the whole wedding planning this weekend! Last July I booked our venue. I went to the small historical village the next town over and asked about the chapel. Of course it was booked every weekend in October. I was surprised to find that the Alexander Blue House was not booked with the chapel on the day I wanted so I decided to book it and have the ceremony and the reception together. The house would be just big enough for it....I hoped! For the last couple of weeks I've been telling myself I should email and ask about the chapel and let them that if it did become available I would be interested. So Friday I emailed. She comes back and tells me it's available!!!! Why she didn't think to call and offer the chapel knowing I was having the ceremony at the house because the chapel was booked eludes me.....but whatever! It's mine, mine, mine now!! Jumping up and down screaming!!!! I am so excited!!! A perfect day made even more perfect!! I don't care if it rains or snows or hurricanes visit....I got the chapel!!!

So besides that, my DIY's. I've had some pretty good ones that I'm really proud of. I made my shoes into Edwardian/1920s shoes. I'm making a newspaper program and will have my FH nephew as a paperboy handing them out. I love my DIY boxed invitations. I just bought for my bouquet and I'm so excited on how I decided to do it. I had the girls 1920s dresses made in the Netherlands and they came in and they tried them on and they are so stinkin cute! They love them, I love them. It's just all starting to fall into place .......and did I mention how excited I am right now??!

Goodness I wouldn't even know where to start haha! But it's probably a tie between picking our venue and designing centerpieces with my FH

ETA: of course I haven't been dress shopping yet or done any of the food cake/tasting and I'm sure that's gonna be a blast!

Good timing for this post - it is nice to reflect on the positives while I am dealing with guest list drama. lol I loved settling on our beautiful venue, finding my dream dress and having that 'moment,' asking my bridesmaids and them accepting (LOVE my bridesmaids!), cake tasting (hehehe), and our engagement shoot (our photos are wonderful).

@Jackie - I did the napkin holders, table numbers, gifts for the bridesmaids and the OOT guests.

@Amy - Your venue is incredible

@Zoe - Pretty sure I will like that part 2.

There are many things, but I truly enjoyed making (assigning) the favors for the guest.

Honestly, I was so scared of this planning stuff, but it soon became my free-from-my-stressful-work zone and started enjoying Smiley smile

I think mine has been the planning itself. I'm an organization junkie, so, having a binder, with all my little tabs, and inspiration photos, contracts, lists, etc. has just been a blast.

Great question!! I think my favorite part was my DIYs. My venue included decor (centerpieces, table linens, uplighting, cake table, card box, and a few other things), so I didn't HAVE to do anything. But, I wanted to add a few little things. I made our cake topper, our "Mr and Mrs" signs were little ornaments I made, I loved the wishing vase I made, and I had tons of glittery cranberries everywhere! It was so fun
