What is your flower girl carrying? (Updated with DIY pic)

HeavenlyBride, on June 16, 2015 at 8:58 AM Posted in Planning 0 30

I have been researching alternatives to my flower girls carrying a basket of petals to toss. It seems like the most common alternatives are: a pomander, a sign, a ribbon wand, a flower wand, or a small bouquet. Out of curiosity, what are your flower girls carrying?

I have two flower girls that will be passing out ribbon wands as people enter the church. Had I thought about it before the ribbon wands I would have had them pass out single roses to the women entering the church. They will carry small bouquets down the isle.

My flower girl is carrying this. I will have real flowers for the rest of the wedding, but I wanted to give her something to play with and not care if she ruins it. She will only be 18 months old, so it is not even set in stone that she will make it down the aisle! This was less than $6 from afloral.com and I think it looks great for the price and its purpose.

She's carrying a ball like above, but baby's breath. It goes with her dress, it's cheaper than petals (by five bucks, but still), and we'll already have petals in the aisle, so I saved five bucks and bought myself a bagel sandwich, ha.

My FG had a flower ball. It was the size of a basketball and she loved it

My flower girl will have a little bell that she rings. I guess that technically makes her our bell girl, not our flower girl...

My 6-y/o FG carried a small bouquet of roses. The younger one (1.5-yrs) carried a pomander/kissing ball I made out of silks to match the other one.

Our flower girls will carry pomander balls as well. A little nervous that the 2 year old will throw it but that's the fun of toddlers in a wedding.

My FG (Daughter) is going to carry a basket with rose petals but it's a wired one - Almost like a fruit basket. I'll add a bow made of tulle and call it a day.

A smaller version of her mother's bouquet (she was a bridesmaid). She was 9, so I didn't have to worry about an $$$ bouquet getting ruined. My sister's flowergirl was 4 and managed to pick quite a few flowers, out of the pomander ball.

I haven't finished them yet. I'm going to glue in the succulents and line in with black satin. But here's the mock up minus the satin

I am going to make a cute basket and have my FG throw petals or leaves... I can't decide! Probably flower petals though, because if you ask my FG (who just turned 3) what she is doing she will yell "FLOWERS!!!!!" at the top of her lungs. She is going to be a riot to get down the aisle. Smiley smile

I'm looking for ones like NotAllWhoWander but I haven't found them yet. I got 2 at the dollar store during Easter but I'm not crazy about them and I think they'll actually give them splinters
