What is your something old?

Jemma, on March 14, 2014 at 11:59 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 21

My new is my dress and many other things, my borrowed is my veil, my blue is a topaz tennis bracelet, but I am stuck on something old.

What are you using? How old is it? Any ideas?

My rosary (also my something blue)

It from the reign of Louis XIV so old.

It doesnt have to be that old, have you thought about earrings or something?

Maybe something to wrap around your bouquet? Like, a piece of your mom's wedding gown or from some clothes you had as a baby/child?

I would say 20 years and older is old.

I have a new pair of earrings that match my engagement ring, so whilst I do have some antique earrings they wouldn't really go with my other jewellery. I do have some old pieces that would attach to the bouquet quite nicely, but I'd be worried about them getting lost if I'm not paying attention to my bouquet for most of the day. I might see what my grandma can come up with in terms of old family fabric or something - she hoards everything so that might work!

My something old is my great-grandmother's gold ring that has two pearls in it. She survived a genocide to get over to the states, so it's pretty darn special to me Smiley smile.

I'm stuck on this. My grandmother gave me a whole bunch of brooches, and I'd love to use one of them--but nothing seems to look right.

I had actually forgot about something old and my mother surprised me with my great grandmother's bridal set. It was very special to me (I didn't want to give them back).

My step dad was going to give me away and I was going to consider him my something old (he's 73) but now he's refusing. Maybe if I told him he was my something old he would change his mind… ;-)

    Perhaps not...

My grandmother gave me her pearls when I turned 21, so I wore those.

My shoes are my something old.

I first wore them to my grade 8 graduation (they were a bit big on me). I kept those shoes because they reminded me of glass slippers. I then wore them to my high school prom, and then my university graduation (undergrad degree). It was then that I decided that I was going to wear these shoes when I got married.

Surprisingly my feet haven't grown much since I was in grade 8 and the shoes still fit. Even though they are old (and my mom says they are gross and I should get rid of them) they are also special to me and they are my something old for my wedding.
