Hello everyone, I was hoping to hear what everyone's splurge item/purchase/hire is regarding your wedding and your budget (should you have one).

I knew going into the beginning of our wedding planning that we wanted to splurge on the photographer. That our photos would be our big ticket item. We have older family members that wont be around much longer and we wanted to make sure the photos that we do get are amazing and will last us a lifetime because we can't go back and recreate them later with everyone there.

What did you guys pick as your big ticket items?

If we're talking cost, my venue is my biggest ticket item, but it includes nearly everything we need... and the total was $7, 324. We can bring our own alcohol and the venue bartender will serve it. We also got a 37% discount for adding the extra package at the venue. It's a true discount... I checked prices on all the extra services through independent vendors.

The only things we have to outside of the venue total are the cake, photographer, food, and cigar roller.

Now, if we're talking things we could have gotten cheaper but chose not to, it would be my shoes. I wanted Jimmy Choo even though Gianni Bini would have served the same purpose.

Ahhhhh... and the florist. How did I forget the florist? 🤣🤣 We have to book that outside the venue too.

Our top 3 most important budget items were food, booze, and photographer. I had a budget in mind for my dress, but I wanted something too specific and hardly anyone is asking for long sleeves and NO LACE gowns. I ended up finding my dream dress and it was $1000 over budget, but since we saved so much money by DIYing and the venue having so many things provided for us for free, we could afford it.

My biggest ticket items were dress, photographer and I hired makeup and hair for myself and MOH. Didn’t skimp on those three.

Food and drink and a live musician we knew from high school (We were both 52 when we wed.) He played that guitar so well - people still ask about him. He offered a discount but I know my hubs tipped him well!! Food and drink, even though it was a lunch reception was a big hit as well.

Photographer and Video! I want to splurge on food too but my fiance is putting his foot down... I think 6k for a large buffet (three entree options! and 4 passed apps) sounded within reason for 85 guests but sigh... He would serve 6inch subway sandwiches cut in half if he had his way... LOL.

Food/bar is our biggest expense. The budget keeps growing because our guest list keeps growing. We’re doing a cocktail hour, brunch buffet, and mimosas at the Hilton in Raleigh. Still much less expensive compared to other cities but we wanted people to be well fed.

Had my Dream wedding in MAUI!
Most definitely video and photography was our biggest splurge. It was a must for me to have good photos to look back on and also, a beautiful video to share with all my family, relatives, and friends.
My hubby was shocked at the ticket price, because our contractors were very expensive in MAUI! But it was totally worth every penny. My photos turned out absolutely fantastic. Better than my dreams. What is your splurge item regarding your wedding budget 1
