What is your Wedding dress budget?

Joanne, on July 20, 2012 at 11:18 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 71

So those who don't know, I have had issues getting to my dress fitting, then finally making it but had a horrible dress fitting experience. I originally had my mind set on Mori Lee, then that soon changed to Val Stefani, but now I am in love with Lazarro! The qowns are beautiful and expensive. I am new to this so my budget had to be adjusted a few times in order to get the dress that I want. I now have a budget of $3000...Is that crazy?

It depends on what your entire budget is! It is a dress I will wear once. I refuse to spend more than $500. I hope I will be able to pass it down to a daughter or granddaughter if I should be blessed with one, but they may not even want to wear it!

If it is a hefty chunk of your budget then it is a little crazy, unless you're willing to cut costs elsewhere.

I agree with Shannah... it depends on what your over all budget is. If your wedding budget is $10k, then a $3k dress is kind of insane... if your budget is $30, then it's not so bad. If you are paying for your dress and its outside of the wedding budget... then spend whatever you can afford. There is a HUGE difference in the quality and workmanship between Mori Lee and Lazzaro... so it's a good thing you adjusted your budget! Mori Less dresses are beautiful, but Lazzaro... stunning.

My budget was $1200 but if I had found THE dress for $2000 I would've upped my budget. But I found my perfect dress for $800.

When I first started looking at dresses I thought that $700 was expensive...lol. The first dress I bought ended up being $449, so I thought that was quite the bargain. I decided I didn't like it anymore after six months passed...so I told my FH I wanted a new one, and he set the budget to $1000 to make sure that I got a really pretty dress. He saw the pics of the old dress after I decided I didn't like it anymore and he was glad I was getting a different one. Anyways, my first dress was from DB and with no luck of selling it online so I could take the money to a different store (Alfred Angelo) to look, I ending up returning it to DB for in store credit and found the perfect dress for $549, so I just had to pay the $100 difference and $8 in tax. If money wasn't such an issue, I would be willing to spend up to $5000 on a dress, but even if I was rich I probably wouldn't spend more than that on a dress I will wear once.

It's really the question of what you see value in. If you see the value in wearing a dress in that price range, go for it.

I spent $450 before alterations and I was very happy with it. I was ready to spend more, but I found a sample that I loved. Given that my dress has been hanging in the closet since the wedding, I am thrilled that I didn't spend more.

I had a budget of $1500, however, the dress I ended up buying was only $549, i tried on the dresses close to my budget and I hated them on me

Will i didn't have a budget, but i knew what kind of dress i wanted. i checked out different bridal stores and i found a dress that i love for 500. So me personally. I think it depends on what you like, but i also agree with Shannah, on what your entire budget is.

My wedding is costing just over $10,000 and my dress budget was around $1000. But I ended up spending under $800 for the one I liked on bestbridalprices.com

Wedding budget guidelines usually say the brides' attire should be 10-12% of the total budget. I kept mine at about 5% of the total budget, bc we splurged in some other areas (hair and makeup for BP and a guest shuttle).

Screw that. Sorry for the bluntness.

Women are CRAZY to spend such a ridiculous amount of money on a dress they are only going to wear ONCE! I personally REFUSE to pay more than $500-$700 for a dress. And guess what ladies, you can find a gorgeous dress in that price range that will make you look like a million bucks! So unless you're some top paid celeb, you're nuts for paying that much for a dress.

    Sorry, just saying.

But I think your dress budget should depend on what you can afford and what your priorities are. If the dress is one of the more important aspects to you, you should go for the Lazaro!

My budget was $2000 for the dress not including alterations etc. I was able to get a Jasmine couture dress for half off!!! I ended up only paying $750.00 not bad!! Super excited. It's gorgeous.
