What kind of candy are you using in your favors?

Patrice, on June 22, 2012 at 4:47 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 23

For all the ladies who are using favors that involve candy, what type of candy are you using?

I'm using these gold filigree print clear pillow boxes and stuffing them with Crazy Candy Hearts. They should go well with my fall theme, since my colors are cranberry red, yellowish gold, and burnt orange. I haven't tasted them yet, but the guy at the candy store told me they taste like Runts. The best part is that I was able to get 30lbs for $62.65 from candymachines.com. I only need around 14lbs, but the price was so much better to buy it in bulk. The cheapest I had found so far was around $80 due to the high shipping costs.

Oh, and I got the pillow boxes for a steal too from the Knot Wedding Shop, $2.49 for a pack of 12. I bought 12 packs, since our guest list is at max 140.

We are having a candy buffet, but I am undecided on the candy. I can't figure out if I want matching wedding colors, fall colors, our favorite candies, or vintage candies...decisions decisions.

I was going to make chocolate covered pretzels but my FMOL does not like that idea, booooooo

So now we have to buy the little champagnes for everyone as a gift....We are having a photobooth so that is part of the present but she really thought that the older relatives would want a gift...argh!

We are putting three hershey kisses in each little favor box with a slip of paper that says "Hugs & kisses from the Mr. and Mrs."...I originally was going to put more candy in the favor box, but I am on a budget and I figured I could find the hershey kisses at the dollar store or something for pretty cheap.

The current plan is for me to make a whole bunch of salted caramels. ... However, since I've never made them before, and I'll have to make them all myself a few days max before the wedding, I am prepared to go buy a ton of Kisses instead. Smiley smile

We're not doing candy, we're doing Chicago's famous Garrett's popcorn.

Everyone's favors edible favors sound exciting.

We did maple candy in little boxes for our wedding.

For Cate's wedding, for the tables, we are putting amorini in a little box. Amorini is imported Italian candy. It is like an M&M but is heart shaped. They just arrived on Thursday and I am excited to get the project started.

The blank tag on the outside is being replaced with ....

Hershy kisses and hugs with a tag thanking them for sharing the day with us. We're putting them in a basket with a sign that says "Please enjoy Hugs and Kisses from the new Mr. and Mrs."

Carole, I love the look of those heart shaped chocolate candies! How do the taste? And those boxes are so cute. I originally wanted to do something chocolate, but I'm all about ordering online and the cheapest shipping method necessary. To order now, I would definitely have melting concerns.

Seems most of us have the same idea -- we are trying to save money on the favours so we will have hershey kisses in tulle with a ribbon
