What kind of Registry for the couple who’s already pretty established?

My wedding is 10 months out and after readying a few discussions on the forum now wouldn’t be a bad time fo start my registry. My problem is my fiancé and I have been living together for about 3 years and our house is pretty much solid. Besides a honeymoon fund what other options have you all tried...

Besides a honeymoon fund what other options have you all tried or seen other newlyweds opt for?

We've been living together for 5+ years; much of our household is cheap Walmart stuff and has been with us from the start. Our registry is most upgrades for items we already have: nicer pot & pan set, new linens, etc.

No worries! Clearly our registry choice shows that FH and I don’t get told what to do Lol! If our guests give us ZERO gifts it wouldn’t matter because FH and I have more than we need in life and can get anything additional that we don’t already have. The registry is because people will ask (they already are and we have over a year to go). When I mentioned to friends the idea of “gifts of experiences” they thought it was a great idea and that it was a gift we’d actually use versus a set of vases that get forgotten in the cabinet or hardly used. But we know what our circle. We go on trips with our different groups of our friends so they understand the value “experiences”. Additionally, experience doesn’t equal expensive... and is no more than a nice set of cookware that someone else might register for. Of course, we’ll toss some towel sets or a new knife set on the list. But that will probably consist of 5-10 items.

But thanks for looking out. 👍🏽

We're in a similar spot and are mostly upgrading our home. One thing I'd recommend is using an Amazon registry. They make it super easy to allow guests to contribute toward a larger gift, instead of hoping our $400 knife set will be purchased by one person/family, or by a group that has to coordinate among themselves. We currently have ours set so that any gift over $50 can either be purchased outright, or contributed to, and any gifts that don't get fully funded can be completed by us, or Amazon will give you the contributions in giftcards

I was thinking about something like this! Allowing people to contribute towards a larger gift. Thank you 🙏

We had an Amazon registry. We have lived together for over 3.5 years, 1 year ago we bought a house together. Amazon was good, we registered for a few upgraded house/kitchen items but also non-traditional items like home renovation items (light fixtures, registers, fans, smart home accessories, etc.), camping items, a new golf bag, accessories for our dog, etc. Amazon lets you add gift cards if you want too, so you could add things like Southwest Airlines gift cards, Airbnb gift cards, etc.! We have 85 items on our registry and invited 225 people (around 100 households) and I also had a shower with 20+ women. We are over 3 weeks out, and we have 46 items left on our registry. It seems like a lot but a lot of it is 4 specific doorknobs, 9 register covers, etc. Amazon lets you buy $1,000 worth of items at 20% off after the wedding too so we are going to do that after with all that's left!

I didn't know Amazon registry had so many other options! We were already considering Amazon as you can get pretty much everything. Glad to hear you had an amazing registry experience with Amazon.

We have also lived together a while so didn't need or want to do a typical registry. My MOH has insisted on throwing us a shower so we did a registry on entertaining items for when we have parties as newlyweds, after we buy our house etc. Nothing that we really need now but we will later and can keep it stored away until then. Things like ice buckets, platters, wine rack, wine chiller, wine glasses, bottle openers, bar tools etc.

Upgrade! Go through your kitchen drawers. I was struggling until one day I picked up the old potato peel we had and just said Ack I wish I had a new one... And then it dawned on me. So I picked some kitchen gadgets that'd be nice to have, some upgrades, I did a pet stain remover so I think you can do a cat condo if you want.
I also put board games on my registry because it's hard for me to justify splurging on stuff but I'd like to have some fun stuff in my house too.

I had the same thought. But, I am just going selecting items that can use an upgrade around then.

Yes definitely! Now that I think about it I have so many basic things that could use an upgrade like silver, cooking utensils, etc. Smiley xd

Don't even get me started on cooking utensils!
My fiance goes through spatulas like they're disposable! Those are on the registry. 🤣🤣🤣

We are kind of in the same situation, so we registered for gift cards and items to do some remodeling jobs on the house.

We also would like to start camping, so we are putting some camping items on there too!
