What processional songs sound good on an organ?

Dana, on March 31, 2019 at 3:20 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 3
The church we’re getting married at has a beautiful pipe organ and an organist available for us to use/hire but I’m having a hard time
finding songs that aren’t overused or too stuffy sounding that sound good on an organ. They do have a piano/pianist but this organ is really cool and I would love to use it.

I do like pachebel’s canon in D but is that overused? What songs are you ladies using if you’re using an organ?

Thanks!

I'm a sucker for Ode to Joy.... But, Canon in D is gorgeous.

    - Arrival of the Queen of Sheba (this was my processional!)
    - Hornpipe from The Water Music
    - Trumpet Voluntary (Clarke)
    - Trumpet Tune (Purcell)
    - Grand March from Aïda
    - Bridal March from Lohengrin (Here Comes the Bride)
    - Wedding March from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, although this is more traditionally used as the recessional

I'm having the same struggle and our church is strict with music and who can perform. I hate the organ but I'm going to have to suck it up. So far the only thing I've liked is Edward Elgar's Nimrod.
