What should i expect to pay for a few hours of photography?

What do you guys think a photographer would charge for 4 hours of photography on a Sunday morning? Not in a major city but about 30 minutes outside one (in the south) if that makes a difference.

This will vary greatly by experience, location, and style.

Look at similar photographer and get a feel for price. You're gonna get all kinds of answers here.

Where are you located? I like about 30 mins outside of Nashville and most of them charge roughly 800 for that amount of time if not more.

I believe there are many factors that determine the cost of a photographer. As stated earlier, experience, location, and style will be major influences. I would speak to several photographers and ask to see their work. If there are two or three that seem to fit your aesthetic, I would also ask if you could spend a little time over lunch or coffee to discuss your wedding. I've heard that a good personality fit is important in the selection process. You can always negotiate cost with the ones you like the best.

I'm not in a high cost area (North Florida) and I paid $1000 for my original package with three hours of photography on the wedding day, a canvas print with the image of our choice, and an included one hour engagement shoot. I have since added two more hours for the wedding day at $160 per hour, because three hours of photography doesn't fit very much!

I'm an hour north of Denver, and all my quotes were between $1,500-$4,500 for 8 hours (average $3,000). So for 4 hours, maybe closer to $1,000? It's just SUCH a wide range because of experiences. I got all my quotes off emailing through Wedding Wire, I got around 20 quotes before I decided. Some include engagement shoots too, which is nice.

Get 3 quotes from photographers you like and you'll quickly find out what the going rate is in your area.

I could have gone with several that were cheaper but when I asked to see full galleries in low light, there was a vast difference in photographers and their skills.

Make sure you see several full galleries and not just view their website.

I am paying $900 for 6 hours of photography and an engagement shoot. She’s also had a package for $1500 for 8 hours, an engagement shoot and bridal shoot, but I decided on the $900 package.

We are paying $2700 for 6 hours, two photographers and full right to all photos. I think his rate for additional hours is somewhere around $450. It sounds like there is quite a range depending on where we all live.

North Dakota bride here. Rates in my area averaged about 2k for 6-8 hours including an engagement session. We did a package for $1650 for 5 hours so $330/hour. 2 photographers are standard with the vendor I booked. I did talk to one business that is in the cities (Minnesota). Send me their info and said since they have family in my area that there would be no travel costs. Middle package for them was $11,000!!!!!! Almost gave me the BIG ONE. I was sitting down or I'd have been flat on the ground. Their premium package was $25k. Depending on how important your photos are to you...we have multiple buy sell trade pages in our area and more novice photogs are extremely reasonable with pretty good results. Just make sure to look at all portfolios and have an in depth discussion about your needs and expectations to make sure they understand exactly what needs to happen. Good luck! This wedding stuff has gotten way super expensive overboard in the last few years...from my observations anyways.

That is a price that will vary a ton by location and experience. We got one quote for $6300 for 6 hours, no prints. Another in the same town for $3500, no prints for 6 hours. One hour away we were quoted $1200 for 6 hours, no prints. You just habe to decide a budget and work from there. We went a little over our original budget but it is worth It! Finding the package we wanted, a photographer we could spend the day comfortably with and a price we could afford all played a part in our final pick!
