As the PP suggests, find the neckline that balances out your face and body best. Take pictures to review later. It often seems that the straps help balance one's shoulders. The sleeves may be desirable if you are facing a wedding in cold weather, so that can help decide, but there also are boleros or options that can be removed if you get hot during the reception.

You should do well however you select a dress so don't be too critical. These are just ways to narrow down what you consider. Also check the other guidelines -- ability to move in the dress and also the complexity of alterations.
