What size bed?

My FH and I are moving in together after the wedding and are looking to buy a bed now. We both currently sleep in twin beds. We probably don't have room for a king at the moment, but we are looking for a bigger place. We were between a queen and a full. Except we also found out one of our couple...

Except we also found out one of our couple friends shares a twin, so I guess that's possible? I think I would really be overcrowding FH in a twin haha.

What size bed do you use/would you recommend?

I cannot imagine sharing a twin! I’d get the biggest, highest quality bed you can afford. When you think about the amount of time we spend in bed and the impact it can have on your body health, it’s not an area you want to skimp on!

My DH and I have a king and it’s absolutely amazing. When we share a queen on vacation, it is not great. He’s a cuddly sleeper but it’s still so nice to have the space.

Queen at bare minimum. I adore my FH, but I’m seriously contemplating separate beds....possibly bedrooms lol...just so we can both get the best sleep possible. We even have separate bedding on our bed since we both tend to burrito at night.

At least a queen! We are going to upgrade our queen to a king after the wedding.

Right now we only have space for a queen. But I want a California king. We shared a full for 6 months. Its just too small. I can't imagine sharing a twin!

We had a Queen for years and it was perfect, close enough to cuddle/spoon.. .and then we got a Cal King. Each persons sleep got so much better since you can cuddle/spoon and then when done get your own space.

Get as big of a bed you can, you will not be upset. Most bedrooms can fit a Queen without issue. Going from a twin to a Queen will get you some extra room.

TBH depends on your and FH’s sizes. One of our couple friends are perfectly fine in a full, but they’re both pretty small people. FH and I are a bit bigger and got a queen when we moved in together, then upgraded to a king when we adopted our large dog and became pushovers and let him sleep with us lol. Kings are HUGE though, and now we’re spoiled and think queens feel tight when we travel. I’d go to a mattress store and test out different sizes!

    Measure your new place, first!

Our place really only fits a full. We don't mind, because we snuggle/have opposite schedules, but it is cozy.

Sharing a twin ... I did that in college. Don't recommend.

Honestly my mom told me that she knows many older couples who finally just went for separate beds because they sleep so much better. I think some people's sleep habits aren't suited for sharing. I grew up sharing a bed, so I can really sleep with no space, but I'm curious how FH will fare

Can you keep your two twins to make a king?!!! We’ve gone through several king mattresses and our current one is two twins (my hubby thinks I move around too much).

We have a queen – we live in a 2 bedroom apartment and live in such an expensive area that we probably won’t be in a position to upsize for about 10-15 years (unless we find $1.5mil cash lying on the floor lol) so we had to be realistic that a king sized bed wouldn’t suit. Our bedroom is big enough for it without issue but we prefer a bit more space – and eventually when we have a baby it’ll give us room to put a bassinette in our bedroom.

My advice, unless you know where you will live for the next 5 years, go with a queen - it is big enough to be comfortable for two, and easier to change sheets for.

I would measure and if at all possible get a king. You will never regret that since a new bed is an investment. If you can’t fit that then definitely a queen!! My husband and I slept in a queen last week at my sisters and it felt super small to us (our small dog also sleeps with us).

We have a queen bed, and have for twenty years. It's plenty of room.

Originally, when we were living in apartments, it was a space thing - our first apartment together was only 500 square feet.

Now we are in a house and there is a ton of bedroom space... I could lay straight across the floor with my feet touching the bedframe and my head would just barely reach the bathroom wall. But honestly, I like having that space. I wouldn't sacrifice it for a bigger bed. After living in so many places where I had a 2-3 foot clearance between the bed and the walls (and in that first apartment... maybe a foot!) I relish the open space to walk, get dressed, clean, whatever.

Plus, the linens for queens are cheaper. I have two sets of sheets (for weekly rotation/washing), and I replace them totally once a year. That extra $$ adds up to me.

That all said, I'd never share anything less than a queen. My husband sleeps on his back with his arms out (bent up, but out - occupies a solid three feet wide) so anything less and his elbow would be on my face!

Definitely go for a queen if you can, and go for as high a quality as you can afford. Mattresses should last 7-8 years, so consider it an investment. A good one will treat you and your health well.

We shared a twin here and there and college, and it was ROUGH. Mostly because he is 6'4", so a twin is small just for him haha. We have a full right now, and it's a little tight sometimes, but we didn't really have room for much bigger in the current apartment.

This!! FH is 6'4", so I don't even know how he slept on a Twin by himself!!!

Our apartment is only big enough for a Full, but two weeks out of each month, he works night shifts, so I get the entire bed to myself haha. We're both snugglers, so the full rarely feels cramped.

I feel like every couple is different but I would go queen at the minimum.

FH and I shared his twin bed for a while when we first started dating and it was doable, but definitely not super comfy.

We have a queen and are moving in a couple days and planning to keep our queen. We've slept in Kings on vacations and they're totally wasted on us since we cuddle all night long, and don't use 1/2 the space of a king, while my best friend and her boyfriend use every inch of a king cause they hate being touched in their sleep. We're only planning on getting a King when we get another dog, and need the space for the dogs. But right now our queen fits us and our boxer/lab mix.

I'd get a queen at least. How tall are you both?

MY fiancé and I had a full for the longest time, and eventually upgraded to a California king because he's 6'3" and is just barely too long for a regular king. And honestly, it's snug in our bed with the two of us and our 60lb dog because I don't like to sleep touching anyone lol. We plan on getting another dog soon and constantly say we just need one of those wall to wall beds.

I mean I think the smallest you should go is a double. Definitely not a twin. I would go with a queen though.

Queen for sure! We currently share a full which is not much space in between us. We plan on upgrading once we move out in September to a bigger place

FH and I currently share a King and I'll never go back down lol. When we first started dating and I bought my house I had a queen bed and he had one in his place.

It wasn't bad when it was just us and my dog, a little tight but not awful. When we got the second dog a queen became and still is impossible.

When we go visit his mom we sleep on a queen and we never get a good nights sleep because of how much we have to navigate around the dogs and each other.

We cuddle when we want and then we say goodnight, I'm rolling away now and get ourselves comfortable when we're ready to actually sleep.
