Somewhere meaningful to you and your future spouse? Convenient location and unbeatable price?

I think so! She showed us the one she made for a wedding this past weekend and it looks great! My parents also have a pretty big garden and are letting us have some branches from their yard for the personal florals and the pole - I was super excited to find out that one of their trees that I LOVE the look of is a Scott's elm - and since my fiance is Scott it seemed like fate! my parents are very kindly going to cut a bunch of branches for my friend to use, which makes everything just that bit more special and personal.

That does sound like fate! I've never heard of Scots elm before you mentioned it, though I saw the photo you posted of it in a different thread, and it looks like it will fit in beautifully with your flowers. That's super kind of your parents to give you a bunch of branches to be used in your decor, I can't wait to hear about how it turns out!

Those venue choices are Fabulous! What sold us was that ours was free😂😂😂. Courtesy of my parents backyard. They are working very hard for the last two years making it a wedding worthy venue. We will have farm house seating around the pool String lights across the pool and building a white plexiglass stage again across the pool where I will walk during processional You can’t see but there are two gazebos on the opposite end of the property one will be for the bartender and the other is where our head table will be Probably doesn’t make sense now but I am hoping it turns out as pretty as I envision it What Sold You On Your Venue? 1

Cannot beat the price of free! Looks like a beautiful property, your parents did a great job on everything! The gazebo is a really cool place for a head table. I also love the idea of the string lights too.

Thank you! Me either! I think they will either hack half the tree down knowing them, or not cut quite enough and my poor friend the florist will have to make do and will be too nice to say anything, LOL

Our venue is a hotel with a great event space (complete with a glass conservatory that can be used for cocktail hour). Originally, my fiancee and her mom, both in education, weren't sold on it because we saw it set up for an event with purple uplights (which reminded them of chaperoning proms). However, we went back two days later (after the event) and it looked so much different. We liked having everything except the church ceremony under one roof (including a farewell breakfast) and not having to worry about people driving back and forth multiple times. We looked at several sites we could have easily chosen because of the ambiance, but the location was key for us.

What sold me was first off the special meaning the place has to us both, and then the fact that they literally were so nice and down to earth with us. We had been and looked at a couple places and they seemed cold and uncaring and it was just a bunch of technical stuff. The place we went with was more personalized and easy going.

That sounds like a super convenient location! The cocktail hour space sounds beautiful as well, I always love lots of glass/windows! Do you have a picture of what the space looks like?

Here you go. They used the space in these photos for smaller group events, but they will use it as an extension of the cocktail hour area in our case. Some weddings will use this area for a ceremony.

WOW I love this!!! All that beautiful natural light during the day, and still just as beautiful at night! I could definitely see this space being perfect for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and receptions. Great venue find!

For us, the “pretty” venues with beautiful architecture or outdoor spaces were either out of budget, all inclusive with restrictions we were not comfortable with or they required a very limited guest count. More often than not, they were all 3.

What was important was a venue we could have all day with no curfew and allows outside catering of our choice. Once we narrowed that, the selections were easy to find. The problem was picking one.

I agree that having a venue with no curfew is a good idea! What type of venue did you end up choosing?

For us it was all the things:

    1. All inclusive = less stress when planning. The vendor list is set, so we just have to let them know exactly what our dream is so they can make it come true.

    2. The 1800s house that is where the bride gets ready. I can't even describe it, but it's amazing!

    3. The multiple ceremony spots. We can either get married outside under the oak tree (first choice) or in the restored barn.

    4. Separate reception space. We didn't want the ceremony & reception in the same building in case of bad weather.

    5. Outdoor twinkle lights to do our first dance under.

    6. The beautiful, candle lit rock wall in the reception area.

    7. The owners. It's a husband and wife team and they do weddings for FUN! This is Trena's passion and it shows.

I could go on... but we are so excited to get married here in 32 days!

That's definitely a lot of great things about your venue! I especially love that tree in the ceremony space, the rock wall in the reception space (so unique!), and that they provide twinkling lights for your first dance! This looks so beautiful, congratulations on your upcoming wedding!!
