Also - anyone using any red dirt music at their wedding?

EDIT - Red dirt music is a mix of country and rock that is very popular in Oklahoma and Texas. It is also sung and written by local artists. For anyone interested in listening to something new, please look up Turnpike Troubadours or Randy Rogers band Smiley smile

    What is red dirt music??

I am walking down the aisle so a song called Sanctuary by Fruition. It's got lyrics but a beautiful mandolin intro and the lyrics say "come to me, I'll be your sanctuary".

"When your world is crumbling and you can hardly hold your heavy heart, I'll be beside you to cherish every single breath you take"

I thought it was very fitting. And they are one of my favorite bands. We also will have our first dance to another one of their songs. Smiley smile

Me and my Husband both walked down to Walk the Line by Johnny Cash. It was not instrumental. We chose the song because we were doing a rockabilly /1950s wedding and we wanted to have upbeat music.

DH and I walked down the aisle to my friend singing Sara Bareilles's I Choose You.

Chosen because the video of her singing it to help two people propose made me tear up. Smiley smile

I got married in a church, so we couldn't use secular music. Only classical or hymnal. The bridal party came out to Clair de Lune and I came out to Reverie, both by Claude DeBussy. I picked those because they are beautiful pieces that went with the theme is enchanted forest. It's slow, I didn't feel rushed. I wanted to do an instrumental version of Flyleaf's "All Around Me"

Instrumental of Shania Twain's "From this moment on".

I'm a country fan, and when I remembered this song when going through songs, I listened to it and it made me cry. The lyrics are just perfect to me and I knew it had to be the one I walked to

My wedding party walked to the instrumental version of "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri. I walked to "Here Comes the Sun" by The Beatles. I didn't want anything super traditional. We also exited to "Forever" by Chris Brown. It put a little bit more of our own style on the wedding rather than feeling traditional and not truly "ours" Smiley smile

We're doing an orchestra cover of one of our favorite songs. Google "piano tribute" or "string quartet tribute" for current hit songs, there are TONS!!!

I'm thinking of the processional being an instrumental version of "Future Days" by Pearl Jam.

We had a Catholic ceremony so I walked down the aisle to the hymn "For the Beauty of the Earth." I picked it because I really like that hymn and it reminds me of one of my favorite movies (Little Women). We had a pianist and a cantor who was trained in opera but I could have gone for instrumental organ or piano. We couldn't afford a whole choir otherwise I would have picked that lol Smiley winking
