What song/music are you walking down the aisle to?

I am about as out of touch with music as humanly possible... If it was released after about 2001 I probably haven't heard of it... (I feel seriously sorry for my DJ!) I am a podcast & NPR geek... but really want to find the perfect song to walk down the aisle to, and am curious what everyone...

Are you going with a song or something classical/orchestral?

I have been considering the song - "I have loved you for thousand years" - I think the lyrics could be perfect... but also don't want to chose something 'unoriginal' ...

I'm walking down the a piano only version of The Forrest Gump Theme. It was on a list and I listened out of amusement and curiosity. It's so romantic and soft and works perfectly for our garden wedding. Plus my FH is OBSESSED with Forrest Gump so it's a fun thing for him too.

I'm going to surprise my fiance by walking down to a string quartet cover of Wagon Wheel by Old Crow Medicine Show, which is a special song to us.

I'm walking to Vitamen String Quartet's cover of "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" by Aersosmith. The original is our first dance song.

I'm pretty unoriginal and walking to "Marry Me" by Train. I think it sets the mood and I like some of his music. I originally wanted something instrumental though! I always appreciate a really nice piece. I highly recommend Lindsey Stirling. She has originals, but also does some great covers. Most of her music is violin, but she sings too.

I will be 45 when walking down the aisle for the first time. I would really like to use "Colour me in" by Damien Rice. It's a bit haunting in thr begining....but I feel like it's lovely and speaks to my experience. The ending is gorgeous and because I am an Art Teacher....I love the notion that he is in fact coloring me in with his love. FH has very old fashioned musical taste, so this is not a song he really knows. I would love feedback if anyone takes the time to listen to it.

A Thousand Years is easily #1. It's the new wedding march because it is so vague that it fits just about every setting. From casual to formal. But don't let that scare you from choosing it. If you and your FH love it, use it.

We both love classical music so whatever we choose will most likely be along those lines. I'm pretty set on Agnus Dei by Samuel Barber at the moment. I just don't know if we should go with the choral version or the strings version. Both are gorgeous.

Are these all instrumental songs or do people really walk down the aisle to actual songs with lyrics. I have never seen this and would love to know more...

Non traditional for sure. My uncle will be playing "Concerning Hobbits" on the piano. It's the theme music that plays for the Shire/Hobbits in LOTR.
