Im bad then... I dont mind any of these songs... except, like Patricia said, break up or death songs... other than that break it down! Smiley smile BUT I do have a request for a "dirty rap" song but I will make sure its LATE ON in the evening so that the elderly wont have a heart attack... now Im starting to rethink it - but its kind of our song b/c its the ONLY song the FH will do a lil dance to. Smiley sad Oh well, good to think about these things now I suppose... plus we are having karaoke so that will be part of it too...

Oorah, I thought it would be cute to play Single Ladies at some point during the night, but my single friends hate that song. :\

Absolutely no old time disco songs (we are family, respect, YMCA, Celebrate, Get Down Tonight, ect...)

No Thriller, Cha Cha Slide, Macarena, Chicken Dance, Cotton Eyed Joe or any other song that has a specific "dance" to it.

No break-up songs, this includes everything from Celine Dion to Guns and Roses with the ballad rock songs

No vulgar music period. (this includes anything with curse words, bump and grind beats, sexually explicit lyrics, ect...)

No twangy sappy country music other then the few choice songs I have picked out already.

No heavy death metal - yes I actually have to write this one because a few of our guests would probably try to request some Metallica or Slipknot (ect...) and while I like those bands too, they are not appropriate for a wedding.

If I listed out specific songs for each of these categories it would be way too long.

Ok so I didn't see it up there but you can NOT forget to add "Baby Got Back" and "Rumpshaker" to those lists. You would think that that era was over....but omg...

My play list consists of happy love songs. Do not play list would be anything to do with unrequited love, secret love or infidelity of any kind, love and lost, troubled times in love, death or divorce. You would be surprised just how many happy love songs there really are out there.

And I love doing the electric slide!

It's totally going to be at my wedding.

In other news, I have not yet complied a 'do not play' list.

Well the only song I really didn't want to be played was the chicken dance, but then I remember there were going to be kids staying for awhile at reception so I decided to just let it be played b4 kids leave for the night. You guys have some great lists though so I am going to be adding some other songs now lol. Thanks!

@TeeDub: My cousin's husband secretly requested Sexual Healing as a second "first" dance song. It was ridiculous (and hilarious)! But I'm with you!

No Macarena. No Chicken Dance. No metal. No Rush songs. (Rush is a band, folks.)

Ha Ha - I had the Hokey Pokey at mine. Its the type of people we hang out with. Everyone got a kick out of it and the dance floor was packed.

    My DNPL:

Absolutely no Country music *gag* and no sappy love songs. We chose all the music ourselves. If there are requests, the dj has been told not to play them.

OH MY GOSH! No Michael Jackson!? I'm having Michael for sure. I plan on learning Thriller, actually so after a drink or 3 I can show off my impressive dance skills on the floor. :]

As far as songs I DON'T want played, definitely NO YMCA. I hate the YMCA with a burning passion. Also that "Fireflies" song. That song infuriates me. It's like a red sheet in front of a bull. I'll charge at the DJ.

Danielle, Beyonce played Etta James in "Cadillac Records"

She did it justice, also sang it to the Obamas the night he won the election. The problem is that she made the song too popular. JMO

I love this this topic... Imho....music(and good booze) are the key to a fun wedding.

@oorah....I am with you...the FH is an outstanding dancer, who danced on Bandstand, and a local dance show. He is all about the line dances.

No rap or unapproved country music!

Nothing from Kenny G, Bruce Springstein,Rod Stewart

No "Celebrate" "We are Family" "YMCA" "Chicken Dance", "Hokey Pokey" and songs associated with ex spouses(yes, we have a list)

Our dinner music is from bands we have seen together: ROlling Stones (ballads); Santana; Moody Blues; Billy Joel; Cream; Pink Floyd; Steve Miller Band and Heart.

DJ is asked to alternate slow dance songs after 4 dance songs. DJ is also asked to mix it up with Danceable Classic Rock, Motown, Oldies(50's), and yes...Disco, so some "Brick House" will be played. : )
