FS is from Ohio and feels the need to play every shuffle song from the "Cleveland shuffle" (yup i don't know what it is either), to the "cha-cha slide", to "step in the name of love." I might let him choose one or two, but he is definitely not getting all of them played!

LMAO @ this whole post! Especially NO MICHAEL JACKSON..."Michael Jackson's not a song!" but I totally aggree absolutely no 15versions of the electric slide cha cha and etc. We will keep it at a two line dance MAX. MY fam gets ridiculous with it and NO MJ (sorry he is the King but just not at my wedding) Single Ladies ummm NO I HATED it when it was popular and still hate it. I went to wedding where it was the bouquet toss song.

LMAO @ all of this... I dont really have any dont play songs BUT my FS is a HUGE Jay Z fan so i will prolly be bargaining with him on how many Jay Z songs we play LOL... its ok tho because i will see his 1 Jay Z song and raise him 2 beyonce songs ahahahahaha ..... side note my family gets down to those line dances so we will be electric sliding, chacha sliding, and cupid shuffling.

I'm really glad you brought this up. This is always a concern for us as the entertainers. Sometimes we have to ride a fine line between the bride's wants/wishes and her guests. It's always a good idea to have this list and provide it to your DJ.

Here's one tip you might want to consider as well. Professional DJ's usually subscribe to a record pool that provides "clean copies" of the most popular music, where the "S" and "F" bombs are wiped out, muted, or bleeped out. If you're looking to hire a DJ... find out where they get their music. You might be surprised.

It might be worthwhile going with a slightly more expensive DJ who has clean music from a record pool, rather than going through an amateur who has "studio" and/or "album" cuts of all music... including offensive lyrics.

    Good luck on your quest!

I'm not too picky, although a lot of you have some great ideas about no infidelity songs. I personally like the fun dance songs that get people dancing like fools. I want people to have a good time at our reception. I think my only "do not plays" will be sappy songs about letting go, ie Butterfly Kisses, My Little Girl. Since my dad has passed away, we don't want too many sad tears at such a happy occasion.

You all missed a couple I hate... The average White Bands, Cut the cake and Meatloafs Paradise by the dashboard light.. Can you believe I heard that at a wedding !! The floor was empty for soooo long.

I am planning a wedding for a friends daughter so it is her date 9/23/2011 not mine..

I really haven't thought of a DNPL yet. But I will be playing a reggae version of the electric slide and I probably will have the cupid shuffle. A couple of my friends are from louisiana so I haven't decided about having bounce music yet....No country though. Hell to the nawl. I will have the shuffle to michael jackson's "they dont really care about us" though (yes there is actually a shuffle/step w/a certain version of the song) which is my fav. No sex songs though...I don't need anybody trying to have any more babies on my dance floor and I don't wanna give my FIL's a stroke (pastor and his wife).

We had all of those except baby got back. had nooooooooooo idea he would actually play it & was NOT happy he did. there were a lot of songs he played I didn't want thus ignored my list but ignored it. Then songs I DID want & didn't play, gggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. make sure you are very clear with your DJ about this. Also, for the in-laws dance they wanted their song but our DJ got the wrong version. Not that big of a deal but since he played it right after a nice song everyone danced to, we all left the floor since we didn't know it (DH wasn't happy about that). I know this is getting off topic but be VERY specific about the exact version you want. If you can find it on youtube or have it on mp3 send it to them that way you know they can't f*@# up. GL!!

We'll be having a mix of some cheesy that get people dancing like theCha cha slide, we are family and I will survive but some are not welcome - I hate Keesha so absolutely none of her songs, chicken dance, macarena, hokey pokey and then hard metal and dirty rap are on the list.

I am a closet reggae lover so I'm going to choose 3 or 4 songs to play just for me and a couple friends from Hawaii other than that we're sending our DJ a list of songs we like and he's going to use that as a basis for picking songs.

No Taylor Swift!! No Rap, No Macarena (my daughter wants this, but Sorry!), no Beatles, no hokey pokey, no I will always love you and no chicken dance.

Other than that, it's fair game. I know FH is only doing the first dance, lol, so the dancing is really for the guests, and maybe me...
