I bought my gown in summer 2020, so stores were very strict about having an appointment and not spending too much time there. I knew I had to get a dress that day. I'm a jeans and t-shirt person in my everyday life, so I knew I wanted something clean and simple, but not too simple. I also wanted something form-fitting. This was actually the first dress I tried on, then I tried on about 6 more, but kept coming back to this one. I love the belt across the middle and the train.

I had a two-hook American bustle put in. Unfortunately that looked a little weird from the front, but great from the back:What Style of Dress for the Wedding 4

I didn’t want anything too poufy or princessy because I was an older bride and would feel ridiculous in something I might’ve loved at 20. I also don’t like tight or fitted styles, so sheathe or mermaid was out. So I basically wanted a not too ornate A-line. I tried on a few possibilities. I mentioned I liked flowy sleeves, and the attendant brought out an example. She said “This is a cape, but we can get an idea of how sleeves would look.” I said “A cape?!” and had to try it on just for laughs. I LOVED it. The end result was a combination of Old Hollywood meets Princess Leia. 😍

Older, plus-sized bride, third time around and wedding on the beach. It was so difficult trying to get these bridal shops to understand I wanted tea length - they kept bringing me long poofy gowns and telling me they could cut them tea length. Girl, I'm a seamstress and just "cutting them shorter" does NOT necessarily make them stylish. So..... I went to the internet. The minute I laid eyes on this dress I KNEW it was the one. Scary ordering from China, but again, being g a seamstress I knew I could fix it if it was drastically wrong. .... it wasn't, and I was in heaven wearing it on my day.
First picture is hub's reaction. Second is me in my amazing dress. What Style of Dress for the Wedding 7

I picked an A-line. I've never really cared for form fitting dressed and I wanted something really comfortable to play yard games in. I picked mine because I love the lace, blush under layer and velvet belt! Stock photo because I'm currently swimming in the top of my dress 😅

I chose a more fitted dress bc I really didn’t like the flowy dress or a line dress. I went with a dress that was more of my style and what I thought was more like me and looked good on me. I loved my dress bc of the fit and the ruffles and how it made me feel as a bride. What Style of Dress for the Wedding 10

The pictures look really nice and both of your outfits look sharp. You found a good balance in your style of dress.

His look is priceless for a man usually watching the time. Glad your dress worked out so well. As for the bridal shops, they can only try to sell you what they have.

So I wanted a dress that felt like me, not princess, over the top because those didn’t feel like me, I did like vintage styles. This one I liked because of the texture plus it wasn’t squishing me super tightly at all, and the length was great so I could dance easily. The v-nevk was a bit of a problem however. What Style of Dress for the Wedding 12

Congratulations on your recent wedding. For the v-neck you could have added a lace inset pretty easily, if that's what your concern was about. But you seemed to have got married okay anyhow.

We used a little bit of fabric and a piece of carboard to flatten the area. It worked.
