What things are you skipping?

Either they are not your style or something you want that is out of your budget?

We’re definitely going to skip bachelor/ette parties. Mostly because we’re not having a full out wedding party or one at all (maybe a small procession with little cousins but that’s a pending compromise). Our friends are mostly broke grad students or in time consuming medical careers so I will only accept their help if offered first. Garter toss is icky to both of us so nope (tbh, I’ve only ever seen one). No cocktail hour needed since we’re Asian so all we need to do is put a bottle or three of decent cognac on each table and we’re fine. I got connections to get cases wholesale so this is quite cost effective for us.

    We are skipping:
    - Photo Booth
    - garter/bouquet toss- ceremony pamphlets (honestly a massive waste of paper)- flower girl/ring bearer (we’re an adults only celebration)- guest book- cocktails (our families are wine experts so we’re sticking to wine and beer 😉)- high end transportation (we’re staying at our venue as hotel guests and it’s near my family’s home)
Instead we’re adding that budget into these items that we care more about:- flowers- cake- music- food/alcohol

We are skipping a bridal party, ALL pre-wedding events, videography, flowers (minus my bouquets wity silk flowers), ALL sexist, patriarchal or superstition-related traditions: dad walking me down & giving me away, white dress, veil, parental dances, we will be together the night before and the morning of, we are doing a 1st look etc...
No unity ceremony, no moms lighting candles. Our processional is the officiant and the 2 of us only ,no one else.
We are also ditching "Speak now or forever hold your peace" even though we know that guests don't object in real life and those who disaprove don't come. But it's important to us as that we are not asking for their approval/blessing.
