Hi everyone!

While wedding planning, I have noticed that if I try to focus on all of the things I would want in my dream wedding, I either get overwhelmed by the vision or sad to think that, no, I can't afford to rent the most beautiful china and glassware with matching sterling silver cutlery. What I find better is think of the things I refuse to have at my wedding! If I just make sure those things aren't a part of my day, I know I will have a great time.

What are some of the things you refuse to have at your wedding? For example, I HATE mashed potatoes and green beans (the texture just is so wrong to me), and my caterer will not be allowed to bring those within a 10-mile radius of my reception.

These comments are hilarious. We actually are have barbeque and paying to have an hour of line dancing, haha, but to each his own. We are in Nashville, after all. Smiley winking But I refuse to let anyone on the mic except the DJ and my stepdad. In our meeting, the DJ kept saying, "I can let people karaoke if they want." NO. And like many others, we said no to the garter toss and bouquet toss. I also said no to having a dozen signs telling everyone where everything is and what to do. They'll figure it out. Surprisingly, I don't think we have any mason jars, but I'm not opposed. We def said NO to having kids at the wedding too. That's a big one.

People will slap me for this one, but I refuse to let Bruno Mars songs into my wedding or reception. I put him at the same level as Beyonce' on my "Do not play" list. I'm also against doing a full dinner.lol. I'm strategically planning it after dinner time so I don't have to feed people!

Agreed, everyone kept asking if I got the unity candle yet and I was like no it’s a candle I can go somewhere the days before and get it. Fast forward to the rehearsal and the priest says to us if anyone has intention to do unity candle you are welcome to but it is not mandatory and in all honesty it isn’t a Catholic tradition anyways someone saw it on tv and thought it was cute😂. I was glad to hear that and ditched it😂😂😂

I don’t care for roses so I told them to limit them in the decor and especially bouquet.

B ut one thing I definitely didn’t want was our head table on a plate form or stage. Every wedding I’ve ever been to had that where it looked like the couple and bridal party was up there like a show piece 😂. I think the florist looked at me like I was joking and asked well don’t you want to highlight the area, I said yes with a back drop, flowers and of course the bride and groom. I explained to him and family that I feel like when you are up higher from everyone else it feels like I’m disconnected from the guest and I don’t want that, I want everyone to feel comfortable approaching my table and I wanna be able to get up easily and not worry about tripping an a few steps to get to the dance floor😂. It was the best thing I did. I think I would have been lazy to get up and dance once I sat down if it was set up with a stage😂😂😂

I refuse to have children at mine. I love kids but I also know kids. They get bored easily and are major distractions to not only the parents, but other guests.

No I gotta get my line dance on I am a dancer so the line dances are a way to get those who don’t dance to engage. I can’t imagine being at any wedding without one line dance. Not being judgemental but having music everyone can dance to allows guests to enjoy your day.

We arent keeping cake but we are leaning towards ordering a mini cake for our first anniversary that is the same as our wedding cake instead.

No Bouquet and garter tosses, not being given away - I'm walking my parents to their seats instead, no cake smashing, and no exit - we want to be the last ones there for a private last dance.

We also are not having a DJ, we are making a very specific playlist that is exactly what we want in the order we want and just borrowing equipment from a friend who used to DJ.
