What time did your reception end?

So I've been looking EVERYWHERE for a venue to let you stay a little later because I am Mexican/American and we like to throw big party like weddings (: lol but I've noticed most venues want you to end at 10 what time did your reception end? I just feel like 10 is early

Our reception will be from 6:30- 12:30. We are paying extra for two more hours, plus we are doing an after party.

We get our venue up to 6 hours.. so it depends on my timeline and when we want to start. But it will probably end around 11 or 12

Since we're getting married on a Sunday, we chose to end the reception at 10pm because I figure more people would be leaving by then and I didn't want to feel like I was paying money for nothing. Otherwise, our venue is pretty flexible with timing.

Mine is supposed to end at 10, but I am paying for an extra hour since we have the DJ for 5 hours. I am sure there will be some bar stuff going on either at the hotel bar or in the upscale (or the lowclass) downtown areas.

Ceremony and Reception are all at the venue - ceremony starts at 5:30 pm and the reception ends at 11 pm. there is a house on the property that we rented for the weekend. That might be the site of an after party. Unfortunately none of the hotels in the area have a bar. FH did say at one point he wanted to go to our favorite CW dance hall after - but we will see if that really happens or not.

Hot Chocolate, if you really want to party late, you can always move the party to a bar/ lounge/ club near your venue. Usually, the BP spreads the word at the reception or by word of mouth a few days before so no one is expecting it to be hosted.

I have it until midnight, but we need to clean up, so we have to end around 10 or 11.

Our cocktail hour starts at 5, reception will end at 10. Our hotel has a restaurant and bar, so maybe we'll go there afterwards... depends on how tired we are Smiley smile

Our reception ends at 10:30, and then we're welcoming our guests back to the hotel bar if they want to hang out.

Karen...I hear you about Irish weddings. The party just doesn't want to end; whether it's a wedding, a funeral, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or just any old Friday night. The Irish know how to party.

For all the ladies who have to clean up and break down your own reception sites: have you considered paying a few adults (non-guests) a hundred dollars a piece to do the work for you? No bride should be dealing with clean-up on her wedding night. Put an ad on Craiglist or hire a college kid who'd love the opportunity to earn a quick $100 to do it for you. Write up a simple contract, have him/her sign it, have them show up 15 minutes before the reception ends, and leave your reception the way you should -- kissing your guests and heading off into the sunset (or sunrise, as the case may be).
