What time does your venue require you to shut it down

justine, on October 5, 2012 at 1:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 42

I have had zero luck when it comes to finding a venue for the reception and it's already an up hill battle because FH is set on having a d.w in Costa Rica, so we are checking out a few locally and we can not find any thing.

There was one that I fell in love with on a private estate but they require every thing to be shut down by 11. Does that seem early to any one else?

My venue required that the guests were gone and the venue picked up by 11pm due to county rules.

Mine is midnight so it isn't that crazy to me. I went to a wedding recently where we had to leave by 10:30. I assume that it closed at 11 and they had to clean up. However, we just went to the hotel for the after party and it was a blast.

Maybe you can extend the party that way.

Our town (and most towns, I think) have a noise ordinance that kicks in at a certain time. Ours was 10 pm so we had to have the music off by then. We thought it easiest to just end the reception at that time, and we did the same as Lisa, most of our guests just continued partying over at the hotel. We provided a shuttle so people could get there safely!

    Justine:

Well we were in a historic area. So the hotel was a few blocks. We basically took over the whole historic hotel. Then we walked a couple blocks to the outdoor museume where they married and had their reception. At the end of the evening, we walked back.

The hotel was very lenient because the whole place was booked with the wedding party. They have approx 25 rooms.

The groomsmen rented a big suite with a balcony. They had an after bar, the rest of the wedding cupcakes and snacks. It was a BLAST!

I think we all stumbled to our rooms around 4ish.

For our wedding, we are getting married on the beach at a beach house/hall and then we are all staying at a seperate hotel.

So we are heading back to do to the same tho I imagine on a different scale because we can't take over the whole place (it's huge). There is however a huge beach bar next door open till 3am so we can stumble there if noise is an issue and walk back.

I'm at a county park, so it's music off at 9, out by 10. I was fine with that.

Noise ordnance requires 10pm and we must be completely gone by 11pm. We are getting married on a Sunday so I don't think that will be a problem. We picked a hotel with a bar though so people could hang out there afterwards if they wanted.

"early" shut downs could be due to city laws. I had an late morning ceremony and our reception was done by 4 (we got a 5% discount for ending by 4).

Ok well this is making feel better! I thought people would expect it to go till 1 or 2 in the morning. The venue is away from any cities but maybe a bus could work to shuttle!

Thanks girls you are the best!

Ours didn't have a time to be out by, the noise wasn't an issue because you couldn't hear the dj from outside. Our cocktail hour was at 4 so we didn't expect a lot of people to be left by midnight and there wasn't but the people that were left were still enjoying themselves, we probably had about 40 people left for our last dance at 11:30 and we started cleanind up around 12 and were all out of there at 12:30. It depends on your crowd and if you have an open bar lol

We only had our reception site for 4 hours (not including set-up and clean-up time). It started at 7, so we were supposed to be done by 11. Everyone told me 4 hours was plenty of time, but, to be honest, I could have partied longer! Almost everyone guest was still there at 11!
