So.. I have never lived on my own before! There has never been a need. I went to school locally and my fiance went to the army. Now I'm graduated and moving out in October... for the first time.. Now, I've done all the checklists I could find on google but I want to know from you guys-- what are...

Now, I've done all the checklists I could find on google but I want to know from you guys-- what are some MUST HAVES for the registry if I've never lived alone before that you wish someone had told you about? What should you ask for on your wedding registry?

ETA: also, our wedding registries are with IKEA and Target! Would you roll your eyes at this? I know my FFIL is definitely going to roll his eyes at IKEA LOL

Get some tools - a cordless drill, a hammer, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, etc and a tool box to put everything in.

Here are a few things I somehow keep.ending up without:

    +cookie sheets

    +pizza cutter

    +strainer/ colander

+change of sheets for laundry day

    +whisk

+plastic spatula for scraping batter from a bowl

    +potholders

    +lids for every size pot/pan

    +GIANT skillet for larger dinners

+large pot for the same reason

+set of mixing bowls in every size (or at least a few that are larger than a cereal bowl- I use them all the time!)

    Miscellaneous items:

+paper shredder (I get a lot of credit card offers)

    +filing system for important documents

Broom and dust pan, swiffer/vacuum depending on your type of floor, hamper, throw blankets (I always like one to snuggle with in my living room), bottle opener/corkscrew, ice cube trays if they don't come with your fridge, a GOOD set of oven mitts, lamps, rings for your shower curtain, trash cans (kitchen, bathrooms), little kitchen things (like chip clips).

I would take the scanner gun around target! Make sure you have a vacuum and bathroom accessories!

Maybe even Lamps! My apartment was SO DARK when we first moved in until we bought like 3 lamps

@OliviaP yes they are pricey, and completion discounts after the wedding date are awesome! For my first wedding I registered for a crazy expensive vacuum and bought it at 20% off as part of the completion. I wasn't expecting anyone to spend that much on us, but I really wanted that vacuum!

Honestly, IKEA products are not durable and don't last long. Their stuff is cheap for a reason. I would recommend doing a registry at Bed Bath and Beyond and Target for quality products that will last you a long time

I found this list from buzzfeed to be incredibly helpful for kitchen stuff:

    https://www.buzzfeed.com/emofly/what-you-should-register-for?utm_term=.dkKknxR9e#.pxL2Q7wyO

It has all the essentials and some great advice about picking quality pieces that will last years.

There are some great lists you can reference that go through every household item you could possibly need by room! Here's one: The Wedding Registry Checklist Every Couple Needs.

My personal must haves include a cast iron skillet, egg rings, bench scraper, and a sous vide stick & vacuum sealer!! I also wish I had registered for more towels and sheets!
