What to do if you can't have the rehearsal at the venue?

Joy, on March 25, 2012 at 8:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 7

Our wedding is on Sunday and our venue (combined ceremony/reception site) holds weddings Friday/Saturday prior so they told us we basically will not be able to do a rehearsal on site. I feel thrown off now - what would you do/would you still hold a rehearsal? Would you just find somewhere else to hold a mock rehearsal as best you can and still have a rehearsal dinner after?

We did but the Friday wedding will be out there setting up on Thursday. It really isn't terribly fair because it does sound like the Friday wedding gets to do their rehearsal at that time. We could of course look into making it even earlier in the week.

We have a similar situation. Wedding is on Sunday and the venue only allows rehearsals on Monday thru Thursday. We weren't told we needed to schedule our rehearsal so far in advance, so we missed the Thursday time slot. We are stuck having it on Wednesday instead but we're making the most of it. We're going to tell our wedding party that if they can't make it out there on a Wed. night (it's at least an hour drive for everyone involved), that they don't have to go. We know for sure that our parents, MOH and BM will be there. Then we are going to have a separate rehearsal dinner on Friday night at my FIL's house. I figure we can always do a mock rehearsal there if need be. But since MOH and BM will be at the venue rehearsal, if there are any special directions, they can relay that to the rest of the wedding party who can't make it to the Wed. rehearsal.

Don't have one. It's walking and standing. Have a rehearsal dinner, go over key points with your party and enjoy. If you have a good officiant and a good coordinator at the venue, you'll be just fine.

This is so reassuring because the exact same thing happened to me!

I'm in the same boat as you. 3 weddings the same weekend as mine. Mine is Sunday, so we'll be using the church we attend to rehearse. All we need is the isle and stage, and they have both. After that we'll head to dinner. Our venue is an hour away anyway so I'm kinda glad we only have to drive 20 minutes to rehearsal.
