what to do with cake topper after the wedding?

Becky, on June 9, 2014 at 12:36 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11

We just decided we are having a small cake and I'm not trying to decide if I want a cake topper, and if so, what to get. Seems easier to spend money on something I have some hope of using after the wedding....so what does one do with a cake topper after the wedding?

I remember my mom having theirs in our china cabinet when I was growing up (I've seen a lot of sites that will include a display stand for a minimal fee or at least offer one). I also have a friend who made an adorable shadow box (thanks to Pinterest) that held her topper, garter, invitation, her veil and headpiece, and a few others.

You could decorate a fish tank! I think I might do that, though mine isn't a traditional bride and groom. We got a pair of the seagulls from Finding Nemo, one in a fancy little bowtie!

We had an edible topper - made of white chocolate. And we ate it the next week. :-)

I bought a custom made cake topper from etsy that look like me and my FH with a plaque with our wedding date so we can display it in our home after Smiley smile.

This is the exact reason why I'm not getting a cake topper. I don't want extra things after the wedding that I don't want to keep.

If don't know what to do with it after then don't bother getting one for the wedding.

We will just display ours in our home afterward, like on a coffee table.

We are thinking about doing a personalized topper and displaying after the wedding. (We aren't having personalized flutes, cake cutter, or anything else so this will be our keepsake from the wedding)

Ours is wire piece that says mr & mrs and underneath (stuck into the cake) will be alpinestar boots (under mr) and cowboy boots (under mrs.) I will prob stick the mr & mrs in a plant, and not sure about the boots.

Our topper is going to be edible. A bride and groom pine cone made out of white and dark chocolate. We are having a mountain theme.

I wanted to display ours, but it got broken in transit between the reception hall and home. Guess that took care of that.
