What to do?!

Barbara, on September 18, 2019 at 5:42 PM Posted in Oregon Planning 0 13

I am stressed to the max with wedding planning. My future wife and I are planning a destination wedding in Portland, Oregon for August 2020. We are inviting 25 people and anticipate between 15-20 will actually show up. our vibe is bohemian mixed with a little rustic. We want lots of greenery but not alot of other decor. The issie I am having is finding a restaurant to have a nice sit down dinner as the "reception" that wont charge me thousands of dollars in food and drink minimums. We want more of a family style meal that will be delicous and memorable but not super frilly and fancy. The objective is to catch up with family and really celebrate our love. At this point I am seriosuly contemplating elopement. The only thing holding me back is the fact that I do want our family to be there. Someone HELP!!!!!!!!!!

    Option #1 (I’m still looking)

Semi private space in the restaurant that has very cheap food minimums and even free on certain hours. No room fee.

    Option #2
https://www.imperialpdx.com/private-dining The semi private room(which looks pretty private to me) has no food minimums or room fee, guests can just order off the regular menu. Click the Info Packet to see the room options

Is there a specific type of food you’re looking for? Or a particular price per person? I responded to your post yesterday with a number of options in the area. If you think you’ll have more in the 15 person range, many places will allow you to make reservations instead of having a private space and that would have no food/bev minimum.

Last aren’t exactly option #3 because there just isn’t enough info provided on the sites but they might be worth inquiring about food minimums.

    And

Most restaurants wouldn’t even give me a menu to look at, their sites were vague and artysy but 1 & 2 had all the info at least. Good luck hun! You’ve got this.

Hey! I live in Portland! I highly suggest Elder Hall or Cooper’s Hall. Both are very beautiful especially for a smaller group. Feel free to message me if you need any other ideas- I would love to help Smiley smile

I’m so sorry! I must have missed your response yesterday. I would love to be spending $5,000 for the ceremony and reception space including food and drinks. If at all possible.

Elder Hall is run by Ned Ludd (mentioned in my response yesterday)... this was our first choice of location and has an amazing coordinator and food. I believe that it was $65/person and alcohol was based on consumption. The one downside is that it is on the east side so you would have to figure out how your party would get there from Hoyt.

I think their price was for 3 courses. Olympia provisions and the Bruce Carey restaurants (23Hoyt, Bluehour, Clarklewis) all also included appetizers in their private dining prices I think... I talked to so many different restaurants that they’re all running together now

Lol that’s how I feel! I love the look of Xico and also 23hoyt. I’ve reached out to both of them. Thank you so much for your help. It’s so hard trying to plan a wedding in a destination you’ve never been to 🙈
