what to put under lanterns

Private User, on October 27, 2013 at 6:30 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 6

I am using lanterns from Ikea for our centerpieces. They have a small opening around the bottom and that leaves room for wax to possible drip out onto the table linens. I need some ideas on what to place underneath the lanterns to avoid having to pay or replace damaged linens at the venue. Thank you Smiley smile

A mirror or a piece of glass?

Pieces of glass, or mirrors from places like Michael's maybe? You have to make sure that whatever you use can with stand some heat, because there's a possibility of heat being trapped in the lanterns. My first thought was plexiglass that you can get at Home Depot and cut to size... but I would do a test of how hot it would get for a candle on it inside the lantern for like 5 hours.

    Best of luck!!

Put them in a holder then place a mirror under it. Depending on how small it may be you might be able to use baby good jar.

    Good luck !!!

I'm using the same lanterns. I'm going to do a mix of tree slices and fake moss. I also considered clear glass plates from the dollar store that were hardly noticeable.

I bought clear votive holders for our lantern candles, and I am putting the whole lantern on a round mirror just to be sure no wax gets on the table linens.
