What to wear for the reception?

Maggii, on November 21, 2021 at 2:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 2 14
I’m looking for ideas or suggestions on what I could wear for comfortability during the reception. I plan on doing a lot of dancing and I don’t want to be in my ceremony dress the entire time. After the special dances I want to be able to move around easily and comfortably. What did you guys wear for your reception?

One of things I was repeatedly told by friends and family who got married: make sure when trying on dresses that you can move and dance in the wedding dress and you only get to wear the dress for a few hours from getting ready to going home so make sure you don’t want to take it off.

I have never personally seen a bride do costume changes because what they wear to the ceremony, they don’t appear to have any problem dancing in. That’s the mindset that I went in with so am planning to wear the same dress all day/night and make sure it’s flexible for movement.

I was leaning more towards nice jeans and a nice top. I’m not a dress wearer but I did get one for the ceremony. I’m much more comfortable in jeans or leggings.

The dress I chose is beautiful and I love it and it’s very comfortable, but the problem is that it’s a ball gown dress with a semi long train. I’m not a big dress wearer in the first place, so the second the dress isn’t required I’d like to take it off. Obviously I’ll have it on for the special dances and the speeches and the cake cutting but once the party actually starts I’ll want to be the most comfortable I can be and not have to worry about someone stepping on the dress.

This really depends on the vibe of the whole wedding. Will your guests be casually dressed or will they be dressed up? If they’ll be dressed up, I’d go for a light summer dress. If they’ll already all be in jeans I think it’s fine for you to do that too.

It’s a pretty laid back wedding. Some people will be dressed up but the majority will just be in jeans and a nice top too.

Try looking at lulus. Maybe a cute little white dress. Or a white top and jeans

I too have a large ball gown. I'm changing into a sequined evening dress.

For our first wedding, we both changed our outfits. He changed into a suit and I had a short ivory dress with dressed up ballet slippers. This time we will both change again. He will once again change into a suit and I have an ivory, one shoulder jumpsuit with a removable train. I’ll probably wear the decked out converse sneakers I made.
