What to wear, what to wear?

Jessica, on August 25, 2020 at 8:09 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

Hello ladies,

I was wondering how everyone decided on what to wear and how many outfit changes you did for your engagement pictures? I will be taking mine (hopefully) in a couple months and I've been going back and forth between how many and what kind of outfits to bring. We're huge sports fans so we know we will be doing a jersey and jeans, and a nice sweater and jeans. I've seen people do really nice ones when they're in full length dresses, but wondering if that would be too much. Just wondering if anyone has advice or opinions.

Thanks in advance!

We had two outfits (one more causal and one more dressy), and also a bonus outfit picked out (where we wore our hockey jerseys). I did not wear a full length dress - I initially wanted to, but couldn't find one I liked and that fit me well, so both my fiance and I ended up wearing clothes we already had. The dress I wore for one of my outfits was knee length. I stressed out a lot ahead of time about what to wear, though honestly, we ended up having so much fun taking the pictures, that we really didn't care what we were wearing.

I wouldn't suggest doing too many outfit changes, since that takes up time during the photo session, but 2-3 outfits would be a good amount! Wear outfits you feel comfortable in, whether they are new or ones you already own.

I wore a knee length dress that I love and that is nice but casual. The pictures turned out great. I actually brought another outfit, but I ended up not wanting to change into it. I only booked an hour and it FLEW by. I know some people who have worn gowns, but they chose a location that fit that vibe (a fancy hotel lobby or a grand church). I also think FH and I wore outfits we had worn together before because that felt like us. If jeans and a sweater feels like you and your fiance, if you've had good memories in jerseys, do that! If you guys like going more formal, add an outfit in! If you like how you look and feel confident, the pictures will be great.

It really depends on how long your session will be. If it's an hour, usually no more than 2 outfit changes. If you're doing 1.5 hrs or more than I guess you could swing a 3rd outfit change. You should check with whatever photographer you decide to book.

We planned on doing 2 outfit changes but our location didn't allow for us to change anywhere. I think the jerseys and jeans would be a nice personal touch for you guys. I think you can do either nice sweaters or you can change into a dress. It's really up to you.

My fiancé and I decided to do 2 different outfits. We did jeans and matching shirts and then we also did a little dressier look. I decided what we both would wear lol

I only had one outfit for my engagement photos but I think if you have like steamed shirts or something like that and it would be cute to do multiple outfits

We did one outfit, then put our Braves jerseys on over top for a few at the end.

Thank you everyone! My soon to be sister in law is doing our photos so we don’t really have a time frame of how long the session will be. I’m trying to make us look good but not too matchy. We’re hoping to do the photos in one of those corn maze/ apple orchard/ pumpkin patches if any are open in October.

We just did too...one casual for the park with our pup and then we dressed up for pics downtown. It wasn’t very long and we wanted a variety of locations so it was important to us to make the most of our time 😊

We did one change. Our session only lasted an hour so there wouldn’t have been time for multiple changes. We also didn’t buy any new clothes and just wore normal clothes we were comfortable in so that we’d look like ourselves

Yeah we are potentially doing multiple locations but close to each other so that was another thing I kept in mind with the outfit changes as well.

I think we will most likely do clothes we already have to just to save money.

I think the jersey look is cute if both of the people are sports fans!

Yeah I don't know if a gown would match our potential venue either, but maybe just a nicer maxi dress to have that dressed up look.

I definitely know I am going to have to plan the outfits as well. Haha! I keep asking him what he wants to wear and he said he keeps telling me whatever I want.

Yeah I am thinking since we are going to be doing a Fall engagement session flannel is never a bad choice. Along with the hockey sweaters and possibly a nicer outfit I feel like would give us a good range of pictures.

I think flannel, hockey sweaters, and something dressy would be a perfect set of outfits for fall pictures! The flannel and hockey sweaters both especially seem ideal for fall. Have fun with the pictures!!

Thanks! We're not really dressy people, but we make it work when need be.
