I never thought of doing that! Will def have to check it out and I’ve been wanting to go to Colorado. Heard it’s beautiful!

We loved Iceland. The people there were super friendly and it was just naturally beautiful. Every place we’ve visited we’ve done a free walking tour the day we arrive. It’s a fun way to get an idea of the history & hear about hot spots from a local. I live in the Bronx and still never turn down a NYC trip. I love going to Central Park, the freedom tower, and Staten Island ferry is free. You’ll get a great view of the Statue of Liberty on the ride.

Iceland sounds amazing! And I've never visited New York, but it's definitely on my list of places to go. Thank you for the info!

I love this question! We dedicate Sunday as our day together, we never make plans with other family or friends and we leave it up to do activities that we enjoy. We lay around in bed and get up to make a delicious Sunday breakfast. Typically we spend the day talking, laughing, or we'll even decide on a project that we want to start for our home and that is also another thing that helps us get closer and learn to work together as a team. We used to always go to concerts once a month, but COVID has killed that lol.

I think it's awesome that you're so intentional about blocking off every Sunday so you can spend time together! Great way to strengthen the bond between you two. My fiance and I also used to go to concerts frequently before COVID! Those were always fun date nights for us. My fiance is definitely missing live music quite a bit right now. Hopefully concerts will return soon, so you and your fiance can continue your tradition!

    This is a great topic!

We both love some French traditions. I'm 100% French, she's 50% French & 50% German (but she doesn't care about German culture). By French traditions, I mean... French foods, cuisine LOL!There are a handful of french restaurants, french bakeries in our area. Before covid, we used to go to our favorite french restaurant twice a month. To be honest: We have never tasted some specialties such as frog legs, french snails, beef tongues! LOL.

Other routines from pre-covid times (but not French things):We used to have a sunday brunch with her immediate family and their partners. It was very important to my fiancee ... and our romantic dates in our favorite park, twice a month.

Also ( with or without COVID): Bastille day! its symbolism is important to us.But this is an online celebration for us ... and we listen to French music thanks to webradios!

Our first date was at a local beer festival so we are planning on going every year we can (this year was canceled due to COVID but they have said it will be back in 2022!). It is held twice a year in January and July but our first date was the January one so it is a fun post-holiday treat to look forward to.

Those are some really fun traditions! I love the idea of supporting your favorite restaurant regularly, and getting together with family is always a good decision.

Awesome!! I love that your tradition ties into your first date. Bummer that the beer festival was cancelled this year, but hopefully it comes back next year. That does sound like a really fun event for after the holidays!

FH and I collect ornaments together. At every bar we go to he puts “Lady May” by Tyler Childers and we dance no matter what. Every Sunday we have family time where we let both dogs on our bed and cuddle as a family. Every 4th of July we celebrate at my family’s house with about 15-25 family members and have Roman candle wars 🥰 we are so lucky to continue making traditions together! 😍

Great traditions!! I especially like the one where you play your song at each bar and dance to it. Are you planning on highlighting that song at your wedding?

Yes we are hoping to highlight it!! We want a live band, hoping they can do the song. The lyrics go "my lovely lady May", well FH goes "my lovely lady A" since my name starts with A so hoping the band can switch the lyrics to that instead!! Smiley smile

We have only lived together for a little over a year (moved in 2 weeks before full on covid lockdowns started) but those routines include Run and Pizza Wednesdays, breakfast sandwich Saturdays, and generally a lot of food and serial killer documentary based activities Smiley ups

One of our important traditions that we have had for a few years, is we go get donuts, gatorade, and hot cheetos two days before Christmas. The donuts are to honor my grandfather who used to buy me donuts once a week as a little girl and to honor when his mom was struggling to make ends meet as a single mother. She used to recycle bottles in order to buy him and his brother donuts on the weekends. the Gatorade and Hot Cheetos is something I added, 2years ago, for his uncle who's death from cancer hit him very hard. I had been struggling with some repressed stuff about my grandfather, especially around the holidays when my therapist suggested creating a tradition that was just mine and my FH's. I was having a hard time thinking of anything when two days before Xmas, he drove me to get donuts and told me why he thought that should be out new tradition and what we could have it mean. I cried like a baby.
